Chains of the Past

Chains of the Past

He laughed and shook his head while smiling. After a few minutes, we reached my house, I took off the seat belt and opened the car door. I was about to get out when Thorn caught my hand which made me jump but I hid it and looked at him.

The Alpha Biker's Healer

The Alpha Biker's Healer

A deafening boom ripped through the underground kingdom. The golden eyes vanished beneath a storm of silver light. The chains wrapped around something enormous. Something beyond imagination. The city trembled. The jailer stood motionless. Holding. Containing. Enduring. Then came a sound I never wanted to hear. A snap. One chain broke. The noise echoed like a thunderclap. Then another chain shattered. And another. And another. The prison was failing. The jailer's light brightened desperately. More chains appeared. Thousands more.

My Personal Lycan King (Book-1)

My Personal Lycan King (Book-1)

I need to protect my love, my mansion, and my people from these people. With a newfound determination, I groaned in my mind before applying all the energy I could muster, and it wasn't long before the chains started to break before shattering to shambles as my hands got freed. Looking at my feet that were tied to the legs of the chair, I hastily pulled on the chains, sweating as the chains were burning my hand before breaking them off too.

I have to admit when starting this book I was not sure if I would read it until the end.... now I'm hooked and waiting for the next chapters. I have become quite invested in the character's development..have laughed at the misunderstanding between them. I am waiting (un)patiently for the conclusion

I’m so glad i found this! I am not into wolf stories but this one is different! Feel-good storylines with humour and giggle-inducing plots. I just hope this will not be too long - I hate really long novels as the excitement tends to get lost. Will be following the author for more stories. Thank you!

Mated To The Rogue King

Mated To The Rogue King

My heart raced, and I closed my eyes, trying to control the surge, trying to understand what was happening. But it was too much. Too fast. The energy inside me burst free, like a dam breaking under the weight of a roaring river. I cried out, the force shaking the bed, the walls, the very air around me. The chains trembled, then snapped. I fell forward, gasping, my hands free for the first time since Brian had left me. I stared at my wrists in disbelief, the iron shackles lying broken on the floor. I had done it. I had broken them again, no, not just broken them. I had ‘shattered’ them, as though they were made of glass.

first of all, hope Cara gets better treatment in the other park, but i can't imagine getting sent as a sign of goodwill among packs..., anyways i always imagine myself as a werewolf, as this book suits my taste so well.

Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me

Marked By Fate: The Alpha Who Loved Me

The sound of the flames filled the room, and the air crackled with energy. The chains around my wrists and ankles started to rattle. They glowed red-hot from the heat of my fire, and I could feel them weakening. I pulled against them, using every ounce of strength I had left. “Come on,” I whispered through gritted teeth. “Come on!” With a deafening crack, the first chain broke, flying across the room and hitting the wall. Then another. And another. The last one snapped like it was made of glass. The stone table beneath me split down the middle, smoke rising from the cracks.

SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA

SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA

One grabbed my wrist; the other locked metal around it. “No—get off!” I struggled, but the second shackle snapped into place before I could pull away. The metal tightened on its own, digging into my skin like it was alive. “Let go!” I twisted, reaching for my power only to feel it slip through me like water. The chains were choking it, smothering it. One of the men laughed. The other grabbed the book “Give that back!” My voice cracked, loud enough to shake the trees. I lunged, fingers brushing the spine, but the chain jerked me back hard enough to send me stumbling.

Alpha's Unwanted Bond

Alpha's Unwanted Bond

Smoke looks down with a sad smile. “It’s not that simple, Aiden. I’m bound by wolfsbane. I’m weak.” “But we can break it together, You are a part of me that cannot be left behind, so I’m not getting out of here without you.’ “Alright. Let's Try.” I slowly sighed before tightening my grip on the chains around my wrists, It was so hot but I was smiling through the pain. Electricity coursed through us, and the sensing of a reconnection felt really like embers catching fire in the night. The chains started to glow, lines appeared on their surface, and, with one last push, they broke apart reducing into dust.

Banished By The Alpha King:Claimed By The Cursed Lycan Beast

Get to her. I yanked against the chains. They held. Of course they held. They had never failed before. The scream tore through me again. We must save her. Our mate. The beast’s voice slammed into my thoughts. Not a suggestion. A command. Impossible. “No,” I growled through gritted teeth. “Stop.” The chains creaked. Then they snapped. Metal links exploded across the room like shrapnel. I stared at my freed wrists in shock. Nothing had ever broken these chains. Nothing.

I am already hooked already by the introduction. I hope this is a completed story. i I am not one to complain, becuz authors need time with their family or need a break to rest. Werewolf stories are my all time favorite stories to read.

Just finished the book, caught off guard by the whole science angle and the seemingly sudden relationship between the Betas that wasn't supported throughout the story. Other than those two areas, excellent writing and imagery. Love the "unexpected" helper's redemption. Won't read the sequel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Man, I stumbled upon 'Chains' years ago during a deep dive into historical fiction, and Laurie Halse Anderson's name just stuck with me. The way she writes—raw, unflinching, yet deeply human—totally grabbed me. I remember finishing the book in one sitting because I couldn't let go of Isabel's story. Anderson has this knack for blending brutal history with characters that feel like friends. If you haven't read her other works like 'Speak,' you're missing out—she tackles tough topics with grace.

What's wild is how 'Chains' doesn't just stay in the past; it mirrors so much of today's struggles. Anderson doesn't spoon-feed you the themes either—she trusts you to connect the dots. That’s why her books linger in my mind like half-remembered conversations.
