Taong 2000, isang pandemya ang sumakop sa buong mundo na naging sanhi ng malaking pag baba ng populasyon. Lahat ng may buhay ay naapektuhan. Lahat ng natamaan ng virus ay nawawala sa sarili, kinakain ang sariling laman pati na rin ang sa kapwa nila, na sa kalaunan ay mapaparalisa hanggang sa maagnas ang natitirang parte ng katawan nito. Ang pandemyang umabot ng dalawang dekada ay kusang naglaho gaya ng mga naagnas na mga bangkay. Pero naging daan din ito para umusbong ang panibagong kababalaghan at misteryong dala ng virus na ito.
