Some unknown. All still figuring out what they were. Good. Jonathan exhaled. “Now we're back to two Earths.” Lucas groaned. “That used to sound bad.” Root checked. Trait-level convergence requirement returned to manageable levels. Processing stable. No primary designation needed. For the first time in hours, success looked possible.

“But if we were to be exposed you could talk to your friend.” “Hmm. that would be ni… Oooh! There it is. Look, there is earth!” I jump off his lap and press my face and hands to the window. Far away I can see the large globe of blue, white and green. It is beautiful. Even more so than any picture I have ever seen of earth. This is the first time I have been this close to home in almost five months. No. Not home. My home now is where Lazarus is. I turn my head in his direction. He’s not looking at earth, but at me. I reach my arms around his middle and he drapes his arms around me. Like this we stand, watching earth as we slowly make our way to the moon.

Their similar atmospheres made the deportation of the female earthlings viable, that and the fact that they were descended from the same group of space-farers who had seeded life throughout the galaxy. "Where to?" he asked aloud, glad he'd brought on this mission the advanced earpiece communicator that allowed the AI unit to reply back, unlike some other models used on not-as-technologically-advanced planets. The computer's tinny voice spoke in his ear. "You need to hike a few miles due west. I couldn't land any closer without being seen." He pictured her smile, her laughter, the promise of a future so different from the endless silence of space. Could he deliver on his vow? Could he keep her safe, return to Daunia before the end arrived? The weight of responsibility pressed down on him, yet excitement fluttered in his chest. This was his chance to change everything. Instantly, the woman appeared before him, submissive and gasping under his dominance. Bo quickly reveled in his fantasies. ... Meanwhile, Everett's experience was similar. Like Chase and Bo, he walked through a passage that led to a chapel. After opening the chapel door and facing the overwhelming pressure, Everett slowly knelt and soon became lost in various illusions, each one reflecting his deepest desires.
