“That’s so weird, because-” Through grinding teeth, I blurt out, “girls usually get star tattoos,” my eyes shift past Lyra, “right Eden?” She stutters out her words, unsure of what to do, “yeah…oh definitely. I have a star tattoo,” she flashes them the inside of her wrist where there’s a star along with a music note and an apple core. It symbolizes our friendship. Obviously I’m the star, Lyra is the music note and Eden, well…the garden of Eden and the forbidden apple.

Slowly she walked over to the window. “That bed is yours.” One of the girls informed Maia and pointed to the other top bunk. It had sheets and a big blanket and fluffy-looking pillows. “My name’s Jasmine. That’s Vanessa and that’s Nicole.” The same girl introduced herself and pointed to each of the other girls. “What’s your name?” She put her journal beside her and looked down at Maia with a smile. “Maia.” She said simply, looking up at the girl. She had super curly hair and darker skin. Her smile was bright and kind and she wore a purple pullover. She had her coily hair pulled back with a yellow scrunchie.

*Star Blood Pack — The Grand Hall* The great hall of the Star Blood Pack shone with golden torchlight and silver banners. Long tables stretched end to end, weighed down by platters of meat, honeyed breads, moonleaf wine and glowing fruit. It was a celebration. A feast of honor. The Luna had been claimed. Crystal entered at Ryder’s side, the new crescent-shaped mark on her neck glowing faintly against her skin. She wore a flowing silver gown, her hair was braided with starpetals.

I mumbled to myself. It was a silver pistol that wasn't loaded with ammo yet. There was a logo stamped on its side—a crown that was in the middle of two clashing swords. It was familiar to my eyes, although I have no clue as to where I first encountered the same symbol. "That was over a decade ago. I didn't know that you still kept it hidden with you," Mrs. Asterbelle said to her husband. "That logo belongs to the organization who would be taking you in, Luna. Even if we're not fond of you right now, it's still necessary for us to know that you're residing in the hands of innocent and pure people who wouldn't dare to lay a hand on you, despite knowing what your blood can do," she muttered.

This time though, I didn’t have that tightness in my chest at saying his name. “Maybe so, but many of us have always looked to you as our Luna. With Kalen, there hadn’t been a Luna. With Caleb taking over, there still isn’t a Luna. None of us care that you are technically not our Luna anymore. You are still very active in the pack and technically you are the Future Luna of all packs, considering who your parents are. You may as well get used to being called Luna for the rest of your life. Or would you rather I call you Moon Princess?” Mel grinned as if she just said a joke that she found funny. Sighing, I shook my head, but I couldn’t help but return her smile.
