She calls them that because they remind her of the asshole preppy kids in The Outsider. It is one of her favorite books and the movie adaption was one of her favorite movies as well. She often quoted the book, like when she told her friends to 'stay gold'. She had always kind of felt like Dally or Johnny from the book, feeling unloved and cast aside. Never more so since she came to this school. She really was an outsider here. She was just a poor greaser trying to fit in with the school full of socs. But the most popular soc was Asher Steele.
