Tempting the Wrong Prince
“I just, I couldn’t stay. I couldn’t,”
He broke off, shaking his head.
I stood abruptly, pacing once, the anger in my body needing movement.
“They must pay,” I said, voice low. “This is not a private betrayal. This is treason.”
Richard’s head lifted slightly.
“Treason,” I repeated, turning back to him. “Do you understand what that means? Passing off another man’s children as the Crown Prince’s heirs isn’t just extortion. It’s an attempt to usurp the crown. It’s a deliberate fraud aimed at the line of succession.”
