Like I am a twelve year old who just did something very stupid and wayward like. I mentally face palm, and then look away from from him to face my friends who have carried on with the game. "Who's that girl?" I hear him speak for the first time. His voice is quite thick, and the way the words came out of his mouth, makes it obvious that he's a calm and collected person, despite the bad boy looks and aura. "That's Emily's friend. Yo, you like her?" This is Stephen, and I look away from the game, just to see the both of them staring at me, with them not even giving a care that I know that they're openly gossiping about me.

"Check the photo on the profile, that's not Adrian's, or is it?" I checked the guy's display photo, and was surprised to see another one of Adrian's friends. "Is this?" I had a hard time recalling his name. We took a few classes together, so I didn't get to see a lot of him, even though we were in the same class. "That's Steve." She nodded, navigating through a congested part of the road. "He's also on the basketball team, a good friend of Adrian's. He and I met earlier today, and he's one of the reasons I said I wanted to speak with you."

The realization crashed down on me—he was my new stepfather’s son. Raj Malhotra. Of course, I should have put it together from the surname alone, but I was so blinded by the shock of seeing him here that it hadn’t clicked until now. He interrupted my thoughts again,“Why aren’t you shouting now? Lost your voice, step-sis?” The word step-sis made me cringe, but I couldn’t let him get under my skin, not now.

“No. Of course not.” She stared at me, unimpressed. “That was the worst lie you’ve ever told.” I clenched my jaw. “He’s my stepbrother.” “And yet… i bet you are crying your face looks swollen You don’t eat. You flinch every time someone mentions his name. That’s not nothing, Ari.” My heart felt like it was caving in. Tears threatened. “It’s over. Okay? If there ever was anything it’s over.” “Did he hurt you?”

He soon sauntered away with a cellphone held against his ears as he proceeded to speak to his Father who happened to be on the line from what I was able to hear from Steve. "Never imagined I'll see you at a party even in a thousand years" Steve remarked in amusement and I was glad they all knew I wouldn't just show up to what I consider a complete waste of my time for no concrete reason. "Hello to you too Steven" I replied dryly then extended my hand to him for a shake after I realized I had no problem with him. Last I checked, we're still business partners so I tried to loosen up with him a bit. I know you're thinking Richard is also my business partner but guess what? I DON'T CARE!

“You met Pedro, right? He’s also your friend.” Stephanie said with a frown. She was clearly trying to be as patient as she could. Sam was amused at this, and he could not help but laugh. “Why are you laughing?” She asked through gritted teeth. Stephanie’s patience was running out as she was already glaring at Sam when she added, “My brother is also your friend.” Sam raised a brow and asked, as if he was innocent, “Yeah, so? Do you expect me to throw Alexander under the bus just because of that?”

I reached for the pen on the floor, holding it with a quivering hand. “It’s okay,” Kudaisi smiled at me. The amber of his eyes seemed to shine making that smile of his more dangerous and my heart to increase its pace if it could do any more. His easy stance seemed more like that of a predator on the move. “But you said in class that she was your friend?” Stephen asked, raising his eyebrows in suspicion. “Yes she is, but I’m also interested in joining the fun.” “Oh, so she wouldn’t put out to you too?” Light bloomed in Stephen’s eyes as he chuckled. “She is such a frigid bitch. You can join, no problems.” Stephen moved to take on from where he left off.

She couldn't fake it anymore. Reaching for her phone, Stephanie scrolled through her contacts until she came upon the name she was looking for: Sophia. Her thumb hovered over the call button as she hesitated. Sophia was her best friend, the one person to whom she had always listened when seeking advice, no matter how difficult the advice might be to take in. If anyone could help her figure out what to do, it was Sophia. With a deep breath, Stephanie pressed the button. It rang twice before a now-familiar voice answered.

“I mean could whoever be after Colton Adams and you got involved?” “I don’t know” she answered, “Koty doesn’t seem like someone people would want to lock up for murder.” It was his turn to raise a questioning brow. “You never know. It could be a family feud… and why are you supporting this Colton Adams of a boy?” “He is my friend. We made up today, settled all our differences and forgave all the hurt. He agreed to just be friends.” She informed him. He scoffed, “Just friends? That is a trick he wants to use to win you over.”
