This time it was Mercy. Stephen answered immediately. "Mercy!" Only silence. Then hurried breathing. Finally... "I'm sorry." Stephen closed his eyes. "Where are you?" "I can't tell you." "You have to." "I can't." Her voice cracked. "If they find me..." Stephen interrupted. "No." His voice became firm. "Listen to me." For years, he had represented Kenya abroad. Negotiated treaties. Resolved crises. Calmed political disputes. Yet this conversation frightened him more than any diplomatic assignment.

The conversation was over and Stephanie didn’t push. She rarely did when I made it clear. Stephan signaled them to allow him to pass, and he continued walking. Stephan stared at him for a while, immediately when he arrived at his front, he admired the boy’s courage and looks. Omar watched him confusedly without saying a word, but followed him. “Arrange those books to the shelf.” Stephan said, pointing at the pile of books.

Stephen, who was a little annoyed, turned over on the bed, with his back facing everyone present. Hesper and Roberto exchanged glances and heard Stephen whispering to himself in Halwanese, "I hate it when people chant mantras by my side when I’m sick. It’d be great if I could eat some canned yellow peaches..." ... It was clear he'd been turning these words over and over in his mind, rehearsing them, yet they still seemed to catch in his throat. He looked everywhere but directly at me, his gaze darting around the room as if searching for an escape. Finally, he spoke, his voice hoarse and strained. "Stephen... Stephen was trafficking female wolves to the mountain." The words hung in the air, heavy and unsettling. My stomach clenched. "Trafficking?" I asked, needing clarification, though I suspected I already knew the answer.

Felix replied. “Awwwn……. You should try being a motivational speaker” Paul cooed and everyone burst into laughter again. “You guys get going, I’m staying tonight” Stephen said as he turned to Tolani. “Why? I’ll be fine alone” Felix said and Stephen chuckled “I don’t trust you with those books there” Stephen replied pointing to the stack of books Paul had brought for him. “Besides, Kola stayed with you yesterday, we are rotating it and don’t feel so special” Stephen added and the room roared with laughter again.
