The stones were chosen deliberately from river granite, strong enough to endure centuries of weather without cracking. They were never supposed to break. And yet, I stop short, one of the stones is fractured straight down the center. Not shattered. Not split apart. Cracked. A thin, jagged line runs from the top of the stone to its base, like a fault line frozen mid-earthquake. The name carved into it remains intact, but the stone itself looks… strained. Breathing carefully, I step closer, frowning. The air around the stone feels wrong. When I lean in, a faint rush of wind spills out from the crack, brushing my face like a sigh escaping something that’s been sealed too long.

While Bob goes for more stones I pick one of the imperial rocks up and hit it against a normal stone. I'm pleased with the result, while the imperial stone retains its shape, the other one broke easily. After experimenting with the imperial stone for a while, I realize that it is very difficult to break, even hitting two imperial stones against each other doesn't seem to work. So, instead of doing the same thing over and over like a caveman, I start scraping it against a huge rock that just happened to be nearby.
