Killed and Reborn: My Alpha’s Obsession

Killed and Reborn: My Alpha’s Obsession

“Circle in! We finish the sacrifice before they—” “I’m not a sacrifice,” Rin snapped louder than she’d meant to. She planted her bare, blood‑slick foot on one of the last intact focus stones at the southern point. The little monolith had been hammered into place with almost reverent care, its sides painstakingly carved. She kicked it. The impact jarred all the way up her leg. Pain flashed white. The stone rocked, wobbled. Not enough. She snarled and kicked again, putting all the fury and terror and stubborn defiance in her body behind it.

Stonegrim

Stonegrim

It took him so long before he drifted into a deep sleep filled with fiery nightmares. ❇❇❇ Thunder roared and the world turned white for a second when a bolt of lightning struck the ground. The steep slope of the mountain was making it harder for him to get away as it was already eroded and rocks were falling down from afar. Looking back, he could see the flicker of torches the darkened soldiers were carrying.

The Five Trait Stones

The Five Trait Stones

"You know what's at cost here so why don't you fucking tell us the whole story?" "Your words Franchesca. I know your mother didn't raise you that way." I was stunned for a moment. Mom used to call me Franchesca before but I told her that I don't like it so she started calling me Iris. I said sorry to him. "One stone used to be. And everyone is equal. Whatever trait you have the stone will choose. If you deserve it enough, then the elemental traits will improve. All of that continued, not gradually 1500 years ago. A king split into stone at five. WOLVES AMONG SHADOWS

WOLVES AMONG SHADOWS

The sound of the water was a constant, thunderous roar, a reminder of the challenge that lay before the competitors. The river spanned nearly fifty feet at its widest point, its width varying slightly due to the natural curves and bends of the landscape. The current was swift and relentless, churning with a ferocity that sent frothy waves crashing against the rocky shore. Large, jagged boulders jutted out from the water at irregular intervals, creating treacherous obstacles for anyone attempting to cross. The surface was dotted with white caps, indicating the hidden rocks and sudden drops that lurked beneath the turbulent flow.

Forbidden Thirst (Crimson Shadows Book #1)

He seizes them narrowing his eyes as if trying to aim at something. "Be attentive and intercept them!" Without further notice, he throws the stones into the river. They ricochet on the surface before sinking to the bottom. I miss the first, to stunned to make the slightest gesture, but his mocking air makes me competitive. I concentrate on the stones. It's not easy, the stones ricochet fast. I nevertheless manage to use my power as I wanted and grabs hold of one of the pebbles. Unsucceeded even for a brief moment, in making it levitate it on the surface of the water.

Princess Cromwell and Her Six Brothers

Princess Cromwell and Her Six Brothers

The surfaces of the slabs were covered in moss, and their edges were inscribed with blurry runes, clearly having existed for many years. In the center of the bluestone slabs lay a gray-black rock half as tall as a person. Its surface was rough and weathered, indistinguishable from the surrounding rocks at first glance. But on closer inspection, a faint red glow could be seen leaking from beneath the rock—the sign of energy escaping from the core of the formation. Elijah circled the rock twice, his little brows furrowing as if pondering how to move the large stone. He reached out his chubby little hand and pressed it against the rock's surface, taking a deep breath. His small belly puffed out

The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster

The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster

"With the children!" I pressed my hands against the fallen rocks, feeling the weight, the support. There was no way to dig through without causing another fall. The dark lines on my skin pulsed, and suddenly I knew what to do. I placed both hands flat against the largest boulder and let the curse flow through me, into the stone. The rock cracked, then split apart. Not crumbling, but breaking into perfect halves that rolled aside, leaving an opening. Gasps rose from the pack members watching.

The Wolf’s Bride

The Wolf’s Bride

Clang— After shattering some falling stones again, Andrius finally arrived in front of the large boulder. With a lift of his hand, the spear thrust out like a dragon, easily smashing the boulder. Bam! Crack, crack— With a dull mechanical sound, the remaining stones in the air continued to fall, and then no additional stones appeared. They succeeded! Andrius had used up too much energy and wiped his sweat, speaking with lingering fear, “Phew... That was too close.”

Journey Through the Shadow Realms

Journey Through the Shadow Realms

He found it locked, so he took out one of his metal implements and forced the lock until he got the lid open. Inside the box, Lankko found a perfectly round stone with a dull blue color. It looked ordinary, he observed. The box was too beautiful to contain such an ordinary looking stone. Lankko picked a metal implement and tried scratching the surface of the round stone, but the stone did not yield to the metal and remained smooth. Could it be that this stone is harder than metal? He asked himself.

Leading My Family to Glory

That crystal was picked up by the man in white with his sword. Meanwhile, the golem rapidly disintegrated and soon broke into a pile of rocks after losing the crystal’s support. Dense cracks started to form on the surface of some of the rocks. A few moments later, this terrifying rock formation turned into a dead formation.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve always been fascinated by the symbolism in titles, and 'Cutting for Stone' is no exception. The phrase comes from the Hippocratic Oath, specifically the line 'I will not cut for stone,' which refers to ancient surgeons avoiding bladder stone removal—a risky procedure back then. The novel by Abraham Verghese uses this as a metaphor for the burdens we carry, both physical and emotional. The story follows twin brothers in Ethiopia, their lives intertwined like the surgical legacy hinted at in the title. It’s about sacrifice, healing, and the scars we inherit. The title’s depth mirrors the book’s themes of medicine and familial bonds, making it a poignant choice.
