Sin picked up the fork, hesitated a moment and then poked at the pancake. “It’s strawberries,” I told her softly. “I usually make chocolate chip pancakes but we ran out of chocolate chips.” She raised her head to look at me as she placed her fork down. “Have you ever eaten a strawberry?” I questioned. “N-no.”

“Was the concoction thing a lie to make me come with you?” Grandpa is very clever, Kate said with amusement. “No,” I said with a smile. “It was a very valid excuse.” The healer laughed again, and we made our way to the dessert stand. I ordered strawberry shortcake, and he ordered blackberry shortcake. We sat on benches and ate our desserts in silence as we watched the Goddess put everything in place.
