The Alpha's Only Weakness
Letting out a deep breath, I returned to the black stone runes on the wall and traced them with my finger, feeling for weakness.
The seal trembled faintly beneath the rune, and I ground my teeth as the Light pulsed again, like a heartbeat, illuminating the tiny crack in the rune.
Fury consumed me as I traced it with my finger.
There was now a flaw in my perfection. A weakness in something that had held for centuries without question due to my abilities and strength.
I pressed harder, feeling the magic push back against me like a living, defiant thing.
The Light had always resisted my control, but never like this, never with such purpose.
