"I...do not understand" I could not hear anything she said next as the pounding in my head grew so loud that I felt warm liquid trickle out of my ears. I touched my ears and felt something sticky on my fingers. When I brought them in front of my eyes, I saw warm red blood and the sight horrified me. I screamed and got up from my bed with a start. Was I dreaming? I looked around, my heart beating wildly against my ribcage, and touched my ears immediately. No blood was oozing out of them.

Feet shoulder-width apart, sword held ready, weight balanced so I could move quickly in any direction. The nightwalker laughed, a horrible rasping sound. It started to move towards me, and I prepared to meet its charge. Then I felt a sharp pain in my ear. It was sudden and piercing, like a needle had been jabbed into my skin. I gasped, my hand instinctively going to my ear. When I pulled my fingers away, they came back wet. Not with blood—with something else. Liquid. There was liquid dripping from whatever had pierced my ear. My vision started to blur almost immediately. The world tilted sideways, and I stumbled.

I asked with widened eyes, not understanding a thing. How is there Blood oozing out of my ears? Did I get an internal bleed or something? “It's okay, let me clean it up!” Harmony said and it took all the will in me not to glare at her. Maybe okay for her, I mean, she's not the one with blood oozing out of her ears. She brought back tissues and began wiping my ears and I began to wonder. Why don't I remember how the blood started dripping out? “What the hell happened?” I had to ask again cuz I felt that they saw something that I didn't.

That worker looks familiar. Walking into the bathroom, I continue to stare at myself in the mirror. Behind me, steam wafts up from the bath, curling up into finger like tendrils, beckoning me in. I decide to relent, until I notice something trailing down my neck. Blood. It runs in a crimson strip down the line of my neck until it pools at my collarbone. The sight is frightening, as I pull back my dark locks to see its origin. My ear. Blood from my ear would suggest some kind of brain injury if I were mortal. Being immortal makes this sight all the more frightening, as if someone is trying to hack into my brain.

Her breathing: was shallow but adequate. She peeled back the gauze. The laceration was 4 cm long, jagged, still oozing despite pressure. “Scalp bleeds like crazy,” she muttered. “Rich vascularity.” She irrigated with saline from her bag, applied fresh hemostatic gauze and pressure dressing. She shone a penlight across Tiana’s pupils, sluggish but equal. She palpated the scalp gently around the wound — no obvious step-off, no boggy swelling, but impossible to rule out underlying hematoma without imaging.

I whipped my head towards him and saw Monica tending to him worriedly. Blood started oozing from his ears, nose, and eyes, and my horrified bulging eyes jumped to a whimpering Hermione who surprisingly had the same symptoms. They cried in pain on the floor and for a moment, I was so dumbstruck that I didn't know what to do.

"The severity of the pain, the nosebleed—that's all within expected parameters?" Dr. Morrison gave me a measured look. "I wouldn't say it's normal, exactly, but it's not necessarily alarming either. Migraines can be severe, and the nosebleed could be related to blood pressure spikes from the pain. However, given his recent head trauma, I do want to be cautious."

I had nothing to be ashamed of. “I hit the counter on the way down,” he said by way of explanation. “He barely nicked me with the bat.” “Oh, well, that would explain the gash.” I replied as I started to apply pressure. The cut wasn’t nearly as bad as I had thought it would be. He wouldn’t even need stitches. “Are you okay, babe? I don’t answer at first. Instead, I flex my jaw and rub my ears for any sign of damage. Thankfully, the fact that I can hear him means that my eardrums are still intact, but my ears still feel like they’re on fire. He takes my face in the palm of his hands and inspects me. “Your nose is bleeding.” He says as he rubs at my nose with the sleeve of his sweater.

Her eyes widened in horror. Whooossh, a sudden wind filled her ears, and she heard a loud pop. The side of her head filled with a sharp pang. Jade tumbled over, landing on her hip and arm. Her elbow had scraped against the pavement, causing her to wince. There were footsteps, but she couldn't tell the direction they were coming from because her head was throbbing and her right ear was ringing.
