Thomas was quiet for another moment, then suddenly he smiled—not his usual warm smile, but something more teasing, almost mischievous. "Are you afraid I'll get jealous?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Mia Williams, if you're that worried about it, maybe you should marry me quickly. Otherwise I'll have to worry that every man who looks like Kyle Branson is going to come along and steal my girlfriend." I stared at him for a beat, then burst out laughing. "Thomas!" "What? I'm serious," he said, but he was grinning now. "I mean, if there are Kyle Branson doppelgangers just wandering around, catching falling children and commissioning healing centers, I clearly need to step up my game."

Thomas muttered shaking his head before turning away. "Here you go proving my point, yet again." Thomas whirled around, stepping into me until my chest was pressed against his and my back was pressed against the cool metal of his truck. Thomas's eyes burned into mine as he looked down at me. I lifted my chin not letting him intimidate me. "You think it's that fucking easy? You think that if I go to this magical Fae world I'll suddenly be less of a risk and everything will be okay?" I swallowed hard, narrowing my eyes at him refusing to back down.

Just a few seconds ago, then he must have heard the commotion. "I have had a rethink, I'm going to take the girl instead of you. I'll make you suffer till you die. Everything that I am going through is entirely your fault, Sue, and killing this cute girl will be a shame but you will realize that only after I have taken something from you."
