“Call him forth.” Shit. I was hoping I could tell her I need to go to my dark altar to buy more time, but this spot makes sense. I think. Maybe? I have no fucking idea how to summon the Devil because I’ve never done it. She runs her hand down the trunk of the tree and crouches down, picking up a handful of earth. She brings it to her face and inhales, smelling the brimstone. “Call him forth,” she tells me. I nod and go over to the tree. I put both hands on the trunk and close my eyes, listening for my familiars.

Sybille's death was the only one that I did not see coming. I never imagined the ones who would bear the divine retribution for me would be her family. As she took my library card, she caught the attention of the spirits, too. It was the evil spirit I had summoned that killed her while she was asleep. “Three?” Job's expression drooped. I chuckled indifferently before reaching for my amulet in my pocket. Sybille’s mother’s hair was still tucked inside. “Thanks to you, Sybille’s mother’s scent ended up camouflaging mine. It’s been thousands of years since any of us have had to call it forth. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I will need all the help I can get to defeat Thypon. Then— Rays of blue hue brilliance erupted across the battlefield, piercing through the storm clouds like divine spears. The light twisted, softened, then took form. From each ray emerged a celestial woman, their bodies made of luminescent blue mist, hair glowing like cosmic rivers, eyes glowing with ancient healing powers. They stepped forward in unison, holy, silent, radiant. The battlefield trembled at their arrival. —————— One of the celestial women stepped forward, her form shimmering like a living constellation. A cold wind howled as the temperature dropped by several degrees, and faint ghostly whispers seemed to echo in the air. “Soul Gathering Technique!” Logo recognized the spell being used by Kane. It was one of the foundational spells of the Soul School, ranked at the 5th tier. Spells in this system ranged from tier 1 to tier 33, each corresponding to the 33 levels of life. As the Soul Gathering Technique activated, Jesta’s body began to tremble as if resonating with some unseen force. A wisp of gray-brown mist floated in the air, entering the nose, seemingly absorbed by the practitioner.
