"They’re converging. It’s almost like they know we’re here." Suddenly, a zombie lunged out of a side room, its decayed hands reaching for Luke. He dodged instinctively, delivering a swift kick that sent it crashing into a wall. "Run!" Luke shouted, grabbing the survivors and pulling them forward. The group sprinted down the hallway, the sound of pursuit echoing behind them. At a junction, Luke and Bayo split up, each taking a survivor to confuse the horde. Luke led his survivor up a narrow stairwell, the sound of groaning and shuffling growing louder below. At the top, he found a locked door. Turning to the young man with him, Luke pressed a finger to his lips.

I mutter as I continue reading more ridiculous clauses. “Excuse me? What did you say?” Evren asks me. Only then do I notice he's no longer sitting in his office chair but is now resting comfortably on the sofa across from me, his lips curved downward. Damn shit, why does he still look so mouthwatering? This should be a sin! Being gorgeous, I mean. If I thought the first clauses were bad, I definitely wasn’t ready for what I was about to see. –Surrogate will eat food approved by the boss' nutritionist and nothing else.

He had trouble focusing, he sometimes seemed like he was going to vomit and he was sweating a lot. Brie sat, playing with her hands as she thought. What if he was turning? She stared down at the floor. She had a gut feeling that something bad would happen soon. What if it was Adam? Would she have to kill him? She sighed. If he turned into a walker, she wouldn't kill him. She needed a plan. A step forward. Maybe they could join with other survivors and work to create a cure or prevention from the virus. Brie glanced at Melissa, who got back up and crawled over to Adam.

Skin broke out in strange rashes that turned into open burns. Plants twisted. Animals died or mutated. Bodies swept into floods started rising again, wrong and hungry, and that was only the beginning of the zombies. Vera and her brother survived, and for a short while, she had almost been grateful because his attention shifted from her to food, shelter, and finding a way out. Survival gave her a little space from him. Then his powers awakened, and everything changed again.

“Bianca. Listen to me. You have survived being beaten. You survived five days without water. You survived being left for dead. And your baby survived all of it. You are both strong, and we will get you out of here.” Sge says firmly as she squeezes my hand and tears sting my eyes. “I’m scared.” I admit and she slowly nods her head. “I know.” “I don’t know how to protect something so small.” I say, looking down at my stomach. “You already did.” She says softly. “Say I stay... What’s the plan?” I ask softly and she sits back slightly. “Daniel can get us access to the south trail. It’s rarely patrolled.” “And then?” “You head toward the neutral territories.”

" he questioned. Silence fell over us. As expected, the only way to deal with this was to fight fire with fire. "Are you okay?" the system asked carefully. "Can you check if I'm still intact? Or have I already been reduced to ashes?" I asked in my mind. "The good news is that we're stuck in the middle of a plot point, so we're not dead yet." Then, it added sheepishly, "The bad news is that your supposed downfall is coming ahead of schedule, but neither of them has broken things off with you yet. If this continues, we'll be stuck here forever. None of us will be able to return home!"

When I woke up, I stretched lazily before the comments appeared in my vision again: [Whoa, talk about bloody! There's nothing scarier than human nature in the apocalypse!] [Yeah, it really magnifies the darkness of humanity…] [To think he could even do that to his own parents… what an animal!] [What a selfish scum! He could do anything for a mouthful of food!] I turned on the surveillance and saw Charles and his parents fighting each other, bloodied and bruised, all over a single pack of instant noodles. "You old hag! Why are you fighting me for this food when you've got cancer?"

I survived the most dangerous and chaotic first three months of the zombie virus outbreak. One morning, the roar of helicopter blades came through the bunker's external microphones, followed by a military loudspeaker broadcast. "Attention all survivors. This is the Southwest Rescue Command rescue team. We have established a safe base. Survivors who hear this broadcast, proceed to the designated assembly point..." I stood up, took off my comfortable loungewear, changed into a black tactical gear and put on a stab-resistant vest. I slid two combat knives into my tactical boots and slung a cocked compound crossbow over my back.

If it hadn't been that Robins was a step away, the fight between Estrada and I would have ended badly. The SIG MOSQUITO found its way to the back of Estrada's head, and Robins commanded him not to move as I started tying up his hands. “ Put the call to the command center for Exfil,” “ Yes, commander.” “ And let them know to bring the recovery team.” With that we both looked over at Hughes. Present time I sat at the chair facing the computer screens and watched the families, the kids playing, the men laughing and the women on the side gossiping. I truly made something here, my name, will forever live amongst these families long after they have all lived and died.

Just watchful. The mountain air was damp and sharp, smelling of pine sap and ash. Somewhere nearby, water trickled over stone. A breeze shifted the tarp, rattling the branches overhead. I pulled my knees to my chest and stared at the thin seam of morning light pushing through the trees. My heart thudded with the aftershock of adrenaline, long spent but not forgotten. “We left her,” I whispered, my voice dry. Zerina stirred. “We survived,” she replied. Not cold, but steady. “That was all we could do.”
