By the time Wednesday evening arrived, he knew he would have to tell Sue about his invitation to Tim Blacksmith for dinner the next evening. Sue was reading another book in the chair by the fireplace. Fortunately, she didn’t notice the way the bachelors looked at her. She spent so much time as a spinster that it was as if she forgot she was a woman. He had to admit that the house seemed less empty with her in it. He put aside his remaining paperwork for the new bank on his desk and turned his attention to Tim Blacksmith. Now how was he going to talk her into making dinner?

He expected Mrs Smith to be smart and get it straight with just a few words but she proved otherwise. Mrs Smith was confused. Susan was competent but if she was promoted above her immediate boss, it would create unfair competition. She didn't know what was going on and felt helpless. Meanwhile, her job was at stake.

I reply, and her smile returns but this time, I notice the change. The twinkle is back in her eye, and the smile is completely genuine. "And hey...I have three sisters-in-laws. If you need a good group of friends...you can't find a better group," I say lowly, and Susan freezes a little before replying. "Really? I have such a hard time connecting and meeting people. I try to smile all the time and appear as friendly as possible....but I think I scare people off," Susan confides again, and I laugh.

She asked Hazel with a strange smile, "Do you suspect that I still love your father? So, you think my love for him has turned into hatred when I see you and that I deliberately let Susan embarrass you?" Hazel was in a panic, she had suspected but never thought Sunny would question her. After all, Susan could not come up with so many plots, so someone must have been helping her. "Well, what do you want to know? I will tell you." Sunny suddenly took out a cigarette and looked at her, "I have a smoking problem. Do you mind if I smoke?" Hazel shook her head.
