Swallowing the pill was another matter it hurt like a bitch, and I felt as if I chocked on it as it went down.

I hurl into the toilet and manage not to get any on the floor . Then I stand up and flush it . I rinse my mouth in the sink and look up at my reflection .

I pinched my nose with one hand and quickly shook out a pill with the other. I threw it into my mouth and swallowed it down with water as fast as I could. Too late. The smell had already triggered my gag reflex. I felt bile rise in my throat. I stumbled out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, barely making it to the toilet before I threw up everything I had just eaten. The strawberries. The grapes. The vitamin. All of it came back up. I knelt on the cold bathroom floor, my arms wrapped around the toilet, tears streaming down my face.

He didn't drink any water, just swallowed it straight down. At that moment, I almost had the illusion that even if I had poisoned him, he wouldn't hesitate to swallow it.
