It was a "Mind-Cyclone," a mile-high whirl of violet static and sharp data shards that turned the air into ozone and memory.

"Don't do this!" Vance screamed, his voice dropping an octave, vibratory and cold. "Fire!"

I said with a laugh as worry lines creased his brow. We rode the Hipper, a superconducting levitation transporter that took city dwellers to and from the Drock, then proceeded onward to the edge of the ice lands. At speeds of over five hundred miles an hour, we passed computerized automotive harvesters and hovering seeding machines that dotted the landscape. Leaves as bright as jewels spun through the air in the Hipper’s wake. In the distance, the towering ice mountains stretched across the horizon. The ice lands covered two-thirds of our planet, sustaining a population of more than eighty million.

Their friend was stunning and perfect and could be called beautiful by many. " Nothing, " they said at once swallowing hard as they are once again hit by how ridiculously beautiful their friend was. Skyler released a deep sigh knowing he was going to regret this night. His outings with his two mischievous best friends have always landed him in trouble. Gods. A pair of gryphons soar overhead, their bondeds laughing as they dive through the clouds. Direwolves and their humans moving in perfect sychronizon. One particulary unimpressed frost lynx lounges across a tree branch, glaring down at everyone beneath it like they are personally offending its existence. Further in the distance, Ironclad dragons train with their bondeds, bronze scales glimmering beneath the rising sun. Terrifying, but majestic. For a few silent moments, I simply watch. Because despite all else, I still love them. I always have, even though Aetherion Academy was not supposed to be my future.

It stumbles back while black dots fall from it. "Wait," the boy screams, looking at the flaming sword in his hand. "I know what these are. I know what these are!"
