He leads me through the house and up the stairs, depositing me in my room of pools whilst he heads back out. I capture the three souls waiting on me, placing them one at a time in the wolf soul pool, swapping them out as they match themselves and bond together. And by the time he comes back for me with a gown and a bag they have all been matched together and now reside in the last pool. “Ready?” He asks. “Yes,” I agree, taking his hand as he teleports us out of here.

Sora smiled coldly, leaving the area with an aura of satisfaction. I touched the stones with my fingertips, hearing the desperate screams of the trapped souls. I closed my eyes, connecting with them. A thin fracture formed in my mind, allowing me to feel each captured soul. Carefully, I opened one of the stones, releasing the souls. They nodded in gratitude before disappearing. I smirked slightly, realizing there was a way to free the souls without the dark guardians noticing. I needed to be cautious, releasing them little by little to weaken the dominion of the dark forces.

But now, it seemed like there might have been a bait and switch. After a brief silence, Donna seemed to be figuring out how to explain more clearly. "Let's look at it this way. Soul cultivation has thresholds—lots of them. When you reach one, you need to elevate your soul to continue. "Soul elevation is extremely difficult, and if you fail, you can never practice soul cultivation again! A phantom core increases your chances of successful elevation, but a Destiny Crystal is different. Once you have it, you're guaranteed continuous soul elevation with a head start.

Feeling that familiar iciness in the air surrounding them, the hairs on her body stood instantly. "Let's start with the basics, what is your name?" "Nicholas." What an ordinary name.
