He scoffed, a sound that resembled a particularly disdainful cat. “Working? You call this working? You’ve barely scratched the surface of this story, Zoey. Weeks have gone by, and you haven’t produced a single decent scoop. I’m starting to think you’re chasing shadows instead of facts.”
His words stung, but I refused to let him see it. “I’m close, Theodore,” I insisted, my voice firm. “I can feel it. There’s something bigger here, something Pushkin is trying to hide. I just need more time.”
