Maybe he’ll let her use his phone later, and she can catch up with the news from home. No, that is not her home. She doesn’t know where her next home will be. Determined to keep her spirits up, she lets go of that thought and listens once more to the extraordinary sounds coming from the sound system. The colors are clashing: purples, reds, turquoise...it’s like nothing she’s heard before. “What is this music?” she asks. “It’s from the soundtrack of Arrival.” “Arrival?” “The film.” “Oh.” “Have you seen it?”

And I was washed away in a wave of Cazz so deep and pure, it threatened to steal my soul. ***** Soundtrack for the next chapter is “Rise Above it All” by UNSECRET and Mike Mains.

They didn't carry sticks; they carried Bows of Solid Sound. The Song of the Lost The Virtuosos didn't attack with the brutality of the Iron-Sovereigns. They attacked with Melancholy. As the "Melody-Puck" was released, it began to play a theme that pulled at the Feral Six’s most buried griefs. It played the sound of Oakhaven’s final sunset. It played the mechanical clicking of the Stacks' elevators. It played the silence of the friends they had lost along the way.

There’s still a tiny ember in the darkness that doesn’t quite go away, like the tip of a candle, or the memory of the grief that pierced my imaginary heart moments ago and is now only beginning its bittersweet time to heal. The same is true of the theme music. First, it protests from being turned off and produces one last screech that’s similar to either the cry of a prehistoric bird or the roar of the sky being rent in half. Next, there’s a lingering hum or echo that fills the ensuing, tension-filled silence. I realized I’ve shut my eyes out of reflex so, gingerly, I open them again. **** Is this digital heaven? Eden? Paradise? Purgatory? Nirvana? Moksha?

Tasha, following closely behind, followed suit and locked the door for good measure. “Lovette, what’s going on?” Tasha asked softly, trying to approach me cautiously. But I was in no mood to listen. I grabbed my phone and put on a headset, turning up the volume of my music as loud as it would go. Music is the only thing that can make me forget any worries and take me into another universe.

I said gasping in awe. He chuckled a bit before ruffling my neatly set hair. I frowned at him and set my hair again properly in a high pony. I have a natural caramel balayage hair. It is a mix of caramel, honey and black hair. He pulled my hair-tie out and secured it around his wrist. I frowned at him but he just chuckled and tucked a lose strand of my hair behind my ear and placed a pin in my hair to keep it from falling back on to my face. I pouted and looked away but I smiled touching the pin in my hair. Someone cleared their throat and I looked up to see Rowan standing there with his hands crossed over his chest making his biceps bulge and his black Henley shirt is not doing any justice

He gazed at me, he was perplexed. "Where is this question coming from, of course, you should know I am damn attracted to you, from day one at that library, you snatched my breath away and somehow you haven't given it back to me, till now," I was blushing, my cheeks turned pink, and I flustered in shame. Why does his words sound like rhythm to my ears and birds to the sound of my whisper?

Being accused of taking drugs messed with a person's reputation, but he couldn't help himself. Tessy rolled her eyes inside her mask and wished he could see the frown in her face. Blaze always made things quite difficult, always asking a lot of annoying questions and when she stretched out a hand for the money, she wasn't surprised when he just looked at her face and laughed out.

Resting my elbow on the seat-arm and with my chin on my hand, I shut out the cattle market throb around me. The satisfaction granted by deciding to leave Edinburgh was brief. A morbid album, the oppressive carriage and Ryan's silence fragmented my sense of purpose. Doubts seeped through the cracks. I swallowed, sniffed and dragged my sleeve quickly across my cheek to remove a sudden tear. While I reached into my bag for a tissue, the woman threatened to try again at conversation but I turned away sharply.
