I could feel my heart breaking with each photograph he threw in, each memory he erased.
“Stop it!” I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes. “Why are you doing this?”
He turned to face me, his expression hard and unfeeling. “One more word from you and you'll find yourself among the burning photographs”
The last of the photos curled in the flames, and the room fell silent, save for the crackling of the fire. I stood there, watching the remnants of our wedding day burn away, feeling a hollowness settle in my chest. The man I had married, the man I thought I loved, was gone. In his place was someone I could barely recognize, someone who saw our life together as nothing more than a liability.
