It had been almost a year since the incident, yet for a long while, Taylah had lost herself within four silent walls, too numb to notice the seasons changing outside.
It had been late spring when everything happened. Back then, she had still carried a flicker of hope, something she had long since forgotten. She had even forgotten her own birthday, the date passing without stirring a single thought.

“This birthday… I want a grand party....” Taylah began, her voice tentative.
