Tess leaned against my dresser, looking satisfied. "Okay, final question before we leave," she said, her tone shifting to serious. "Strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate?" I blinked. "What?" "Flavor. What’s your favorite?" "Vanilla. Obviously. Why?" She clapped her hands together. "I knew it! I told Maeve you were a vanilla girl. She bet on strawberry." She rummaged in her oversized purse and pulled out a small box wrapped in simple silver gift paper. "Here. For you."

I teased, grabbing a pack anyway. “Oh yeah? What’s your elite choice, then?” he challenged. I scanned the shelf. “Raisinets,” I said, grabbing a box. “Raisinets!” Kol burst out laughing. “Are you secretly an eighty-year-old man?” “You know what? For that, the Twizzlers stay in my pocket.” I paid for the snacks and tucked them away. “No!” Kol tugged on my arm, grinning. “I’m sorry. I take it back.”

Everything felt peaceful. Cassian pulled something from his pocket. A small package wrapped in paper. "What is that?" I asked. "Treats. I brought them for you. Thought you might need something sweet after today." He unwrapped the package to reveal small chocolates. Expensive ones. The kind I had not had since before my marriage. "You brought me chocolates?" "Is that all right? I was not sure what you liked." "It is perfect. Thank you." I took one and bit into it. The sweetness exploded on my tongue. It was delicious. Wonderful.

Carol pleads, and I just nod still not able to form words yet. I dig through the food items until I find a box of expensive chocolates. I tear them open and put one straight into my mouth, I don’t even stop to check what the flavour it is – I just need the sugar. It’s coffee liqueur and dark chocolate and I know it’s a little early for the small hit of alcohol, but it’s just what I need to bring some sense back.

And maybe it’s better that I’m not around to hear it. We might be forced to be around each other for sake of appearances, but we’re not exactly best friends. I doubt he wants me in his business like that. Besides, I’m starving. Throwing up after getting on a rollercoaster does that to you. I rummage through the fridge and find a pack of strawberries. I scowl. No chocolate. What kind of monster keeps strawberries without chocolate? Obviously, it’s Tess. She can’t stand chocolates, but that’s something I find insane.

I placed the letter on the edge of the table and opened the box. My eyes glistened with tears when I saw what was inside. They were all my stolen pictures from our trip to Ilocos. I looked so silly in some of them; it was embarrassing. There were also tons of chocolates inside—Ferrero Rocher, Toblerone, Snickers, Dairy Milk, and even KitKats, my favorites! After a moment, I picked up a smaller box at the side and opened it.

Meanwhile, Riga, who saw him, chuckled with resounding. “So is there?” asked Riga once more. “The cake hasn't,” Amour replied. “Where do you want to buy it?” “Just walk first, I'll show you later,” Amour replied.
