Chapter 13: Sanaya’s P.O.V Lancelin Eustein, the CEO of ReefWood Inc. and the future King of all Incubi in the planet…had a sweet tooth. His basket was filled with Twix bars, Oreos, M&M’s, KitKats and Reese’s as we neared the cash register. I tried to hold in my laugh when laugh when Lancelin peeked into my cart to see what I’d gotten and saw his disappointed frown when he found only cheeses, some Doritos and some hot pockets. There were also some spice roasted hazelnuts and pistachios thrown into the mix, as well as a pack of dried cranberries. They would all pair very well with some Barbera or some Pinot.

*** Rozelyn had another round of eating sweets and chocolates. She leaned back at the couch as she popped a Ferrero Rocher into her mouth and smiled. Rosette saw her and imitated her as well but the chocolate missed her mouth. Both ladies laughed, making Thalia join the laugh as well. The vanishing smile in Thalia’s face and eyes is a signal for Rozelyn that it is ‘tea time’. It is now the time to spill tea and let the cats out of the bags.

“What else would you like to have?” “Hmm,” Tasha looked around and asked for a dozen of chocolate cupcakes, they were Tyson's favorite. She also got some chicken hand pies, both the pies and cupcakes would be good for Tyson to be taken as evening snacks along with milk. She eagerly handed over her money and made her way to the next stall where there were homemade jams and preserves for sale.

I heard a voice near us and then a squeal coming from my baby girl, I tuned to them with big wide eyes, whose that? "Darjin, what are you doing here?" I ask him in a cold voice. "Good morning Miss Evelyn, I'm here to say hello to the pretty girl," he says looking at my baby girl, holding what looks to be a chocolate rose in his hand. "What's that?" I ask him in a cold voice, what is he giving my little one? "It's my homework," he says. "What homework?" I ask again. "It's my baking class, we're learning about chocolate and I did this, it's pure chocolate but then it got some red filling," he says with a wink meaning blood.

Clara was looking expectantly inside the shop as she craned her neck, checking if their order would arrive any time soon. Inside, there were shelves upon shelves of the most succulent-looking sweets imaginable: Creamy chunks of butterscotch that changed color in every bite; hundreds of different kinds of chocolates in weird animal shapes arranged in neat rows that customers must be prepared to catch once it either leaped or flew; colorful candy necklaces which adjusted to the size of the neck; miniature candy cones; cans of slithering candy worms; cakes that could be ordered in towers or slices; and enchanted scrumptious beverages which kept on filling to the glass’ rim.

Just looking at the boxes makes me crave them! I can even remember how it tastes in my mouth! I don’t know if I can fight this desire! “Madam.” There, just when I was struggling between the promise I made to myself and my strong sudden craves, the cashier suddenly called me from the counter. She pouts and points at the DeLafees with her lips, “You’ll get a 10% discount for that if you have a Sweet Toothie membership.” she said. It seems like she is aware that I was struggling because of the high price of the chocolates.

Giselle, with an anxious expression mixed with impatience, looked at Ursula. “Are you sure everything has been bought?“ she asked again, her tone of voice almost implying excessive anxiety. “Yes,” Ursula replied steadily. “I even kept asking Eva while choosing the products. Why, what's wrong?” Giselle sighed annoyedly. “I can't wait to chew chocolate! Oh my goodness. Tiana's only given me one chocolate bar, and it's so small. It doesn't even taste like anything!” She clicked her tongue and flopped down on the sofa, combing her hair with a frustrated, rough motion.

Tess leaned against my dresser, looking satisfied. "Okay, final question before we leave," she said, her tone shifting to serious. "Strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate?" I blinked. "What?" "Flavor. What’s your favorite?" "Vanilla. Obviously. Why?" She clapped her hands together. "I knew it! I told Maeve you were a vanilla girl. She bet on strawberry." She rummaged in her oversized purse and pulled out a small box wrapped in simple silver gift paper. "Here. For you."

I teased, grabbing a pack anyway. “Oh yeah? What’s your elite choice, then?” he challenged. I scanned the shelf. “Raisinets,” I said, grabbing a box. “Raisinets!” Kol burst out laughing. “Are you secretly an eighty-year-old man?” “You know what? For that, the Twizzlers stay in my pocket.” I paid for the snacks and tucked them away. “No!” Kol tugged on my arm, grinning. “I’m sorry. I take it back.”

Everything felt peaceful. Cassian pulled something from his pocket. A small package wrapped in paper. "What is that?" I asked. "Treats. I brought them for you. Thought you might need something sweet after today." He unwrapped the package to reveal small chocolates. Expensive ones. The kind I had not had since before my marriage. "You brought me chocolates?" "Is that all right? I was not sure what you liked." "It is perfect. Thank you." I took one and bit into it. The sweetness exploded on my tongue. It was delicious. Wonderful.
