I hated the way he said it because he wasn’t wrong.
Mara reached into the satchel and pulled out a small cloth bundle. She unwrapped it, revealing dark paste sealed in a tin. The smell hit me immediately, sharp and bitter, like crushed herbs, ash, and something so rancid it made my nose wrinkle.
Rowan gagged. “What the hell is that?”
“Something that will make you smell less like blood, sex, panic, and poor choices.”
I glared at her.
She shoved the tin toward me. “Rub it on your skin, your clothes, hair if you have to. It won’t erase your scent, but it will muddy it enough to buy time. Wolves hate it.”
