I asserted with fervor, placing emphasis on each word.
"I am traversing this path unaccompanied, yet I harbor no grievances; in fact, I find solace in it," I continued, my determination unwavering.
"I am happy, mum."
"Are you happy? It feels like it's been an eternity since I've seen your radiant smile, the one that used to light up your face. I miss hearing your laughter, and when I do hear it, it seems forced and insincere." Her gaze rests on me, her hand gently placed on my shoulder. There are no tears in her eyes, but they appear glossy.
