ALEXA’S POV The cell was cold, damp, and smelled like sweat and old iron. The walls were scratched with names and marks, proof that others had been here before me, counting days, scratching lines just to keep track of time. I sat on the hard bunk with my back against the wall, staring at the small barred window. The sun outside was bright, but in here, it felt like night never left. Ten days. That was all. Ten more days and I would be out of here. I had made the right calls, whispered the right words, pulled strings with people outside. I wasn’t just some weak woman that the world thought they could lock away.
