Eve stood motionless beside her monitors, watching the amber warning light flash steadily on the screen.
As Terry reached the heavy door, he stopped and looked back over his shoulder. His grey eyes met hers one last time through the doorway.
"Watch the telemetry, spreadsheet," Terry rumbled with a faint, tight smirk. "I'll see you after the third."
He stepped into the tunnel, the heavy iron door clanging shut behind him, leaving Eve alone in the quiet office as the roar of eighteen thousand voices erupted through the ceiling above.
