Maid for Him
She peeked through the half-open door into the daunting shadowy interior ahead.
“Hello?”
A woman’s voice answered from within the darkness—balmy and sonorous.
“Tell me, who is the enemy of the dark?”
Startled, Amber stumbled back a few steps. She paused, thinking. Then her face lit up.
“Light,” she replied.
At once, a soft glow filled the room, chasing away the shadows. In awe, Amber pushed the door fully open.
What she saw made her gasp.
It was a fairly large chamber, and at its center lay a fish-shaped, aquamarine-colored pool. It looked almost natural, like it had been carved out of living rock. The water shimmered under the new light, lending the space an underwater ambiance.
