The Apartment Novels & Stories

"Don't curse." Three hours later I was staring at myself in the full length mirror in Cath's bedroom. I had spent a full thirty minutes gawking at her apartment. It was on the top floor of a high rise building and was one of the only two apartments on the freaking floor. It was a little bit too impersonal for my taste, and looked barely lived in. There were no pictures on the wall or personal nick nacks anywhere. In fact, the only room that had any sign of life was the home office. The apartment was done up in stark white and blacks. I itched with the urge to dirty it up a bit. But nobody could deny that it was prime real estate. The floor to ceiling windows e

It felt good to have a window that opened, to feel the fresh air on their face. The apartment was on the fifth floor of an old building, and the elevator was small and rickety. Aric had to squeeze in next to their boxes of belongings. The building was in a decent neighborhood, but it was clear that it had seen better days. The hallways were dimly lit, and the carpet was worn and stained.

Then the boys found our other apartment in the same building. It isn’t until apartment 3 that I fall in love. It’s perfect. Open windows. Similar to ours back in Boston. And what’s even better there are two across the hall from each other. In our price range? check. Open windows? check. Double sink? check. Big kitchen? check with lots of bench space for baking. “It even has space for a living room slash office.” Kingston says as we finish our final inspection before making an offer. The anxiety in my chest eases when we sign our names. Committing for a year beginning August. As Josie and Austen sign as well. It’s offical we will be neighbours in New York.

It reminds me of when we were kids, before everything got complicated. "Come on," she says. "One more viewing. The listing said there's a dishwasher." "All the dishwashers in this neighborhood are named Miguel." "Shut up." I follow her out of the apartment. Jax The fourth apartment is worse. It's in a building that smells like cabbage and despair. The elevator is broken. The walls are thin enough that I can hear someone arguing in the next unit. And the bedroom is barely big enough for a twin bed. Jess loves it.

The small apartment felt unusually quiet when Gian unlocked the door. It was on the seventh floor, with a balcony overlooking the city park. Not very big, but comfortable enough for two people. The living room and kitchen shared an open layout, furnished with modern minimalist pieces. Shades of gray and cream dominated the space, giving it a calm yet slightly cold atmosphere.

It is said that 80% of houses in the city belonged to the conglomerate and they also owned a lot of apartments in other cities. Standing outside the company building, Adam went through his entire plan to complete the mission in his head while watching multiple people go in and out of the building. Taking a deep breath, he walked into the spacious lobby room populated with a bunch of people. "Good afternoon sir, would you like to check the available apartments?" Suddenly appearing before Adam was a brown haired girl roughly the same age with him dressed in a blue shirt and black skirt that highlighted her shape. Looking around, he could see multiple women and men of various ages positioned ar

Bella Pov I stood in front of a small apartment building. The building was old and the paint was peeling. It was nothing like the luxury penthouse I used to live in. But it was mine. And it was far away from Damian and everything that reminded me of him. I unlocked the door and walked into my new apartment. It was tiny. Just one bedroom and a small kitJake and a bathroom. The floors were scratched. The walls were yellow from age. But the rent was cheap and that was all that mattered now.

Willow "Mom, this is like the 100th apartment we've been to, and it's still no good. I'm tired," Cami groans, throwing her head back against the wall behind her, and I glance at the real estate agent who is still going on and on about the perks of living in this two-bedroom apartment that feels more like a shoebox. It's only the fourth apartment we've been to since we started our hunt just after brunch at the diner, but just like the first one, it's not the one.

I wanted to get Jax a good apartment before I planned on going home, then tell Adley that I found my son. We started apartment hunting after breakfast. The first apartment we found was okay, but the room was too small. The next we checked out, the entrance didn’t look secure. “This looks way out of my reach. Two rooms are okay, and this—” “Has three rooms, three baths, kitchen, spacious living room, and there’s a pool for kids, and a playground at the back,” the tenant said. “Jax, how do you like this apartment?” Jax was seemingly asking for his mother’s approval.

Micah glanced back, offering me a small wave filled with warmth, before the two of them disappeared out of the restaurant. I scanned the impeccably designed interior, each detail a testament to opulence, and couldn't shake the disbelief settling in my chest. This luxury apartment, far beyond anything I had ever hoped for, was now my reality, all thanks to the address Ace had casually provided. Apartment 46 in Bullard, perfectly situated across from my college, made me wonder just how he had known where to send me. A part of me marveled at the serendipity of it all, while another part buzzed with unease—was it mere coincidence, or had he been keeping a closer eye on me than I realized?
