Blade landed naked and broken in the dirt, gasping, a low, animal growl tearing from his throat as he clutched his neck. Grey stood over him, towering, chest heaving, blood dripping from his fur. “You’re done,” Grey growled. “You don’t touch her. You don’t breathe near her. You don’t even fucking think about her again.”

Liam and I drew our swords, slender steel blades that glittered in the lantern light. The first figure lunged at Liam, blade raised high. Usually, Liam would parry with a strength that dwarfed any mortal man. But this creature moved swiftly and strangely, an echo of wolf’s shadow, swift and silent. Liam’s blade met the figure’s in a clash that rang through the trees.

The impact sent him crashing to the ground of the cage. The crowd cheered crazily, screams erupted all around me. "BLADE!" "BLADE!" "BLADE!" I pulled out my custom-made blade gleamed with a savage hunger under the bright arena lights. The polished steel bore the name "Capone," etched into the metal like a proclamation of death. Its edge was as sharp as a serpent's fang. It looked eager to cut, having tasted the blood of many before. The handle, wrapped in black leather, felt like a coiled snake in my grip, ready to strike with deadly accuracy. This blade wasn't just a weapon; it was a merciless instrument of brutality, a symbol of my unrelenting power in this world.

Blade responded with another mocking yet sinister grin and I glanced over his shoulder in search of Jude and Luka but I couldn't make them out in this crowd. My eyes met his again with hardly any warmth behind them. "I'll only ask one final time moron what do you want?" I ask. He looked me over as if he wasn't going to reply then changed his mind. "You can put an end to all of this bad blood by admitting defeat sweetling," he reponds. I snorted, "why would I when I'm just getting started?" "C'mon Tink, doesn't being the bad girl ever get tiring?" Blade questions.

I told them about the incident with the blade. As I pulled the blade to show them, my breath hitched. A sickening realization settled over me—the blade had begun to decay, its once-impenetrable metal now chipped where our blood had mingled. The sharp edge had dulled, the intricate engravings that once pulsed with power were now barely visible beneath the damaged metal. It was as if the weapon itself had been tainted, consumed by the impossibility of what had touched it.

But I don’t look away. The blade’s still. Silent. Just steel. But in that moment, it felt like more. Like it wanted. I should be scared. Instead, I grin. “Yeah… maybe you’re alive too.” That night, I can’t sleep. I keep replaying it in my head. That flash, that twitch of the sword under my blood. They said stories of ego blades are just tales. Weapons with souls. Hungry steel that chooses its wielder. But maybe… maybe I’ve stumbled onto one.

"You planned it all? Too bad your brain couldn't plan for this." Before he could blink, in one quick motion, the blade in the air left my fingers like a whisper of death. It sliced through the side of his cheek-clean, sharp, leaving a trail of blood like a red warning. He flinched, hands instinctively rising to his face before the knife embedded itself straight between the eyes of the guard behind him . The body dropped with a thud . The silence that followed was heavy. Deadly. I turned my back on him without fear. But Klaus's voice rang out immediately, sharp as gunfire.
