Elizabeth's POV I blinked once to clear my eyes, opened them and then blinked again but the image before me remained and did not change. One minute I was paying for my groceries at the store's counter and the next minute, Vivian was standing right in front of me just very further away. Was I hallucinating? Cause I had taken a lot of alcohol before stepping out but a third blink of my eye revealed that I was not and she was indeed standing before me.

For an endless, breathless moment, the room was consumed in a blinding light that stung my eyes and made me grind my teeth. Utterly the same. “What the…” I whispered to myself as I flipped through the pages. “What the hell was that?” “Nina? Everything okay?”

She snapped her head toward me, suspicion and anger in her eyes. I picked up the box of personal items I'd already packed, met their stares, and headed for the door.
