One by one, ticking them as well. ✓ She protected a Kitsune. ‘Possible Royal.’ His pen moved again. ✓ She felt the wolf's wound. ‘Possible Mate.’ He paused for a brief moment before writing one final note. ✓ Her powers continue to manifest. Closing the journal, Gretonia looked toward the dark forest beyond his caravan. A quiet smile crossed his face. "...She's awakening." * Far away... Within the MoonBlood Palace, the Shadow Guard knelt before the throne, presenting Gretonia's latest report.

His eyes were bloodshot and crunchy from the lack of sleep. He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes. He stretched and yawned extremely loudly. When he got up, he touched his toes and tried to get his muscles warmed up. Today wasn’t just any football game, after all. It was the traditional football game that celebrated the day his ancestors “expelled the vampires” from his town. Frankly, Liam thought it was a bunch of baloney, but apparently it was a big deal to the council of the town. That’s why, every year, they hosted the homecoming game with vampire decor and more. The cheerleaders of the high school team he was on were all wearing fake blood and vampire teeth, the same as they did every year

The day of the ceremony arrived and Liam was stressed. With getting the supply back on track, the preparations for the ceremony, and the time of the Blood moon curse rapidly approaching, Liam was having a hard time keeping control of his inner beast. It simply wanted to rip, tear and demolish all the problems before it. Liam had to explain that not all problems could be solved with violence. It didn’t care. Calming the beast once more, he stepped out onto the prepared stage. Below him stood his pack. They were separated into sections. Most of the pack were set a ways back. The pubescent kids and their guardians in an enclosed area set aside.

I mean it was really red like someone had set the atmosphere on fire. Everyone. Stared their eyes fixed on the sky. "What is that?" Marcus asked, his voice full of surprise. Nelly appeared beside us her face serious. "That is the Bloodmoon Rising, a ritual that only happens when a lot of Moonborn blood has been spilled in one night." I asked her "What does it do?" even though I was not sure I wanted to know the answer.

“And because something is going to happen soon. Something bigger than your mother’s lies and your stepfather’s games.” My skin prickled. “What are you talking about?” “The Blood Moon.” I frowned. “The… what?” Valessa moved to the window, pulling the curtain aside just enough for the pale light outside to seep in. She gazed out as if she could already see it on the horizon. “The Blood Moon will rise in a few months. It’s rare, but when it comes, it changes everything. It stirs power you didn’t know you had. It makes bonds unbearable. It turns desire into madness. And for hybrids like you—” she glanced back at me, her eyes sharp, “it can be lethal if you aren’t prepared.”

“That’s… bigger than I thought.” Alvina’s eyes narrowed. “She’s drawing power from the Blood Moon. We have to strike before the full rise.” I stared at the fortress, my heart steady. “Then we’ll strike tonight.” Lotus’s voice was calm but firm. “Be ready, Jade. The real battle begins when the moon turns red.” I tightened my grip on the spell book. “Kieran,” I whispered under my breath, “hold on a little longer. I’m coming for you.”

The forest murmured beneath her feet. The moon crept higher. The bond frayed further. The end approached. Her choice was made. She turned toward the rising moon. The mark on her arm pulsed. The talisman vibrated with renewed energy. The forest whispered one last time. "When the moon turns red, the guardian will bleed. When the bond breaks, the forest will fall. When the heart beats anew...the guardian will rise." Lyla inhaled deeply. The Bloodmoon was almost here. And the forest’s heart was calling for her blood.

Lucian breathes. Araya's blood runs cold. She knows this phenomenon. Heard the legends from old Direwolf tales. "The Blood Moon," Araya whispers. "But it's not supposed to rise for three more nights." As they watch, the red spreads faster. Consuming the blue. Turning day into eerie crimson twilight. The full moon appears despite the sun still visible. Massive. Red as fresh blood. Hanging in the sky like a wound. Every wolf in Drevalon feels it. The pull. The command. The ancient call that cannot be denied.

“He wants to make sure that she is in full health before she leaves.” “Full health, huh?” Chanel says. “Are you sure that is the case? Or is he wanting her to stay here until after the blood moon?” The blood moon. This was the second time that I heard mention of the blood moon. What exactly was it about the blood moon that everyone was so concerned with? In the world of wolves, the only day that truly mattered was the rose moon, when we were able to feel the awakening of our mate bonds. “That’s something you’d have to ask him,” healer Murdoch responds. “Now, if you’re done bothering me, I have work to do.”

Then toward the distant palace where Cassian was being held. “I will save them all.” The silver mark on my palm ignited. The sky above the forest turned red. A massive Blood Moon appeared between the clouds. Every soldier fell to his knees. Even Rowan bowed his head. The stranger stared at the sky. “No…” I looked at him. “What?” He swallowed. “The Blood Moon has risen before its time.” The forest began to shake. The ground split beneath us. And from somewhere deep inside the mountain, the Shadow King spoke. “Now, Blood Moon Queen…”
