"Open the door! Open it! My daughter is still in there!" I couldn't tell if his grief was real or just another performance. I didn't care. I had my orders. I would not open this door. The fire burned for a day and a night. Most of the manor was reduced to ash. The grand ballroom was nothing but a blackened, skeletal ruin. The next afternoon, Alistair summoned me to his study. He looked ten years older, his shoulders slumped, his eyes hollow. On his desk sat a check and a thick folder.

Just by looking at the many books on the bookshelves, Vivian knew that the man liked reading books. The study did have a similar atmosphere to Steen's office in the company building, but it was slightly smaller than the man's office in the company. There was no sofa or a coffee table in the room, and perhaps that was enough to show that Steen was not expecting any guests in his study.

" After getting dressed, Larry opened the door to the room and found a disheveled man with a rough, slightly dark face standing at the door. "Can I see my sister now?" The man asked hurriedly. "Go on in, you've got only five minutes." Larry also wondered why the girl was so anxious to see her brother. Almost five minutes later, the man came out from inside and nodded toward Larry with a smile on his face. Larry extinguished his cigarette and reentered the ward. "Don't you want to know what I said to my brother?" The girl was fully clothed at this time, her face still lustful with unresolved desire and a smile on the corners of her mouth.

She wanted to stick her tongue out at the woman who stared wide eyed at her. Once in the elevator she felt to awkward to just silently stand there. "So, Mr. Maddox is the CEO am I right?" She was completely taken by surprise at the news, she saw the darker skinned one nod before he adverted his eyes again. "And you guys work for him?" She couldn't help but ask the most obvious questions. She saw them nod again and luckily not seconds later the elevator pinged letting them know they had arrived.

"Oh, I see. So you won't let your own daughter call you 'Daddy' because you've already gone and picked up a new son outside?" Harold pressed his lips together and said nothing. At that moment, Susan interrupted, her tone full of grievance. "Harold was just being kind, helping us out. Please don't be angry, Catherine. If anyone's to blame, it's me. Jacob and I ruined your family's peace. We'll leave." Then, she turned to Jacob. "Get down from Harold and leave with me." But Jacob burst into tears. "No! I don't want to go! I like Mr. Jefferson! If anyone who till now, has impressed me in this company is this guy. What was his name? Yes, Henry Miller. This man knows more about the statics of this company than his boss. He is quick to follow orders and does them in a flick of a finger. So one thing he shouldn't worry about is his job. Because he is an asset. This boy may look like a nerd but he is a shrewd one. The only problem is his confidence. He doesn't trust himself enough. I don't know why looking at his nervous state my mind drifts back to the woman who I met at the party.

The state of these ‘books’, brought a few things to Mane’s attention. Firstly, the papers were rough and coarse because they weren’t delicately processed. It wasn’t because Dan was poor or something. After all, his gaze when he brought the books over was that of pride. It didn’t take much to see that getting one’s hands on a piece of paper in this world was difficult.
