Halmes's office wasn't too small, but the shelves on each side of the office contained records, scientific research papers, and books mainly made for doctors. The first time I visited this hospital, I was just six years old and I had asked my mom how the doctor would be able to read all those books. My mother laughed at me and told me that some of the books are those the doctor read in school and during research, and others are documents or records of people who have been in the hospital before, which must be kept for future reference. "How can he be able to know which book is this or that?" That was a very stupid question for me to ask, if I look at it now as an adult.

He motioned for us to all come and sit at a table in the left corner of the room. It was then that I noticed all the medical books. The walls were lined with bookshelves full of them. There was also a full human skeleton model, as well as a werewolf one. The room was sort of like an attic, with sloped ceilings. But all the medical books and models made it seem more like a clinic.

I snapped. The door opened, and he walked in. He dropped a case on the metal table with a loud clang. “Sorry I took so long. But I must tell you this.” His voice was cool, too damn calm for a man staring at an Alpha ready to rip apart the walls with his bare hands. I sat, leaning forward, palms flat against the steel surface. “Talk.” The doctor exhaled, popping open his case. Vials. Slides. Syringes. His fingers were quick, grabbing a glass tube filled with thick, muddy water.

the doctor stutter. “She what?” asked Raphael. “Well, how do I explain? She isn’t human. You see, her body is human but not her being. I don’t know if I’m explaining myself well,” the doctor said with difficulty. He was struggling with himself on how to explain this. I know she might not be human, because she was in that place, but something about her told me she was half human. “Just tell me what you have on your mind,” I said. Nodding, the doctor pulled out a file.

"What we just saw is classified medical information about Miss Hart's condition. Anyone who speaks about this outside this room will be terminated immediately. Are we clear?" Everyone nodded, too shocked to argue. "Mary, with me. Now." Dr. Stevens grabbed my arm and pulled me from the emergency room into a private office. He closed the door and turned to face me. "What are you?" "I'm just an intern." "Don't lie to me. I've been a doctor for thirty years. I've seen a lot of things. But I've never seen anyone heal wounds with glowing hands through touch alone. That's not normal wolf healing. That's something else entirely."

"My husband just passed away, and you expect me to smile? This hospital is inhumane! Christopher was one of your doctors, but I don't see even a trace of grief on your face! Did you want him to die?" Before long, a crowd began to gather around me. Some people began to take my side. "Leave her alone." "Her husband just died! Why should she be denied the right to cry?" "What kind of cold-hearted doctor are you? Have you never lost someone close to you? We don't mind at all, so why should you?" Just then, someone stepped forward from the crowd.

She forgot her past but her nature and psychology remain the same - fearing Ace when he talks with authority in business mode. The aged doctor grinned and raised his hands in surrender. "I can testify to you that I am really a doctor. Here is my license to practice medicine and this is my identity card, a proof that I am a physician in Greenland hospital." He placed the certificate in Ace's hands. Ace read every line carefully in the document and only then he looked convinced.
