THE SEX DOCTOR: BOOK2

Tristan was sitting on the table in the living room with his head hung between his hands, rubbing the back of his neck, as the laptop laid open before him. His LinkedIn message board filled with messages like: We love your idea, however currently we are not on a lookout for partners. Thank you.

He knew establishing a business from scratch would be difficult, but he didn’t know it would be that stressful. He was just about to shut his laptop when his phone rang.

“Hello baby, how’s your day going?” Oliver’s cheerful voice greeted his hearing.

“Just the usual - what about you?” Tristan tried to match his energy but he was aware that his voice was very dull compared to Oliver’s.

Oliver was silent for a while before saying in an even cheerier voice than earlier, “I have some news that might make you feel better!”

Tristan smiled, appreciating Oliver’s efforts, “Go ahead.”

“Guess whose boyfriend landed the red and white corporate building project!” Oliver’s voice contained so much excitement that it was impossible for Tristan to resist his own smile.

“If it’s not mine then it’s a horrible game,” Tristan was genuinely happy for Oliver.

The red and white corporate building was apparently the hot topic for architects those days, Tristan himself did not follow the architectural world updates, but he had been hearing a lot about it from Oliver those days.

From what Tristan knew, some big corporate company had recently announced a job opening for an architect who could design a corporate building, but the special thing about that project was that only red or white color could be used in the design for the building, and therefore it was a challenge for architects nationwide.

So, obviously, Oliver having landed the job was a big deal, and while Tristan was happy for Oliver, it reminded him of the dormancy in his own professional life.

After getting off the call with Oliver, he put his head back between his hands, tears of frustration filling his eyes.

They had just reached the studio when Roth received a call on his phone, causing Eleanor to glare at him. He threw her an apologetic glance, pressing the phone to his ear, “Dimitri speaking.”

Then he listened to the person on the other side for a while before nodding his head, his face showing no sign of any expression, as he said, “That’s good. Keep me updated about the progress.”

Putting the phone in his pocket, he neared Eleanor, “Sorry, that was important. It was my project manager informing me that they hired an architect for one of our corporate building projects.”

She shrugged, “It’s okay, we are already running late by half an hour. It doesn’t matter if we stall longer.” Roth grimly nodded, he both liked and disliked that Eleanor had started taking the radio show more seriously than he did.

She had over-planned and over-organized it to the point that now it felt like a chore to Roth rather than an outlet for himself. Roth feared losing that too after sex. His body had just stopped getting him excited about things he had once loved.

After a few more failed attempts at networking on Linkedln, Tristan finally shut the laptop, glancing at the clock. It was almost time for the sex doctor radio show. He took a deep breath in, it was not easy to forgo patterns built over years.

Subconsciously, he still woke up early to cook breakfast for Roth on Sundays and he still waited for Fridays for the whole week for the radio show.

Letting out a sigh, he tuned in to the show on his phone. Some minutes later, Roth’s voice boomed over the radio, “Good evening ladies and gentlemen! I hope you all are doing well. Welcome to the sex doctor radio show!”

Tristan’s forehead creased into a frown - something was off with Roth’s voice, or was it just him? The usual element of cheek was missing from his voice that day.
