Dove's POV "Dove", I heard a soothing voice call after me and I looked around. Darkness. That was all I could see. "Dove", the voice called out again and I followed the sound, it led to a faint light. "Who-who's there?" I asked, I sighted a lantern and noticed that was where the voice came from. "Dove", I heard the voice from behind me and turned with a gasp. A woman dressed in a long white gown looked at me with a loving smile on her face, "Dove", she bent down and cupped my cheeks planting a kiss on each one of them.

Dove turned and took off in the direction of the Cave of Blossoms. “Don’t you dare to come back without them!” Stryxx screamed, making the others look at him. They packed up the wolves, breaking every speed limit to get back to Noni and Shae. _--_--_ Dove ran over the river and through the woods, to get to the Cave, it was a longer journey than he’d remembered, and he was smaller back then. Like a light bulb going off in his head, he called Stryxx. “I’m not finding the Cave. I’m close, but someone’s keeping me from seeing the way.” Dove growled frustrated.

"It takes more than good writing." "More, you'll give." I tucked the book under my arm. "I'm keeping this, by the way." Khole looked up and smiled. "You almost gave me a heart attack," Dove muttered, already drifting back toward the bedroom door with her blanket trailing. "My head is splitting. I'm going back to sleep." She pointed at me without turning around. "Good morning, Dove. Lovely to see you too." She waved one hand and disappeared. I turned to Risa. "Where's my wife?"

I demanded, my aura had shifted to anger at myself, and I was taking it out on whoever was disturbing my musings. “Mr Kozlov, a Mrs Orlov calling from London for you,” Came the voice of my Secretary. “I don’t have a clue who this woman is. She can make an appointment if she needs to speak with me.” I responded. I wasn't in the mood for people grovelling to me today. “She is adamant, sir, said something about a dove?” The breath caught in my throat, and I stilled completely at the word Dove. There was only one thing that came to my mind when the word Dove was mentioned.

Roaring flames lit up the bedroom, sending waves of heat and smoke that choked me to tears. "Sweetheart, stay there and don't move!" Hearing the voice message my husband sent me, I finally realized that I was reborn. My husband's name was Joey Pierce, and he was the captain of the local firefighters. In my past life, I trusted him completely, not moving a single muscle even when my flesh was burning while waiting for him to come in and save me.

Inanna was way back in my mind, almost hiding, but she didn’t give me a nervous vibe. Maybe this was something she wanted me to discover for myself; maybe she thought it best not to tell me. Either way, I knew she had her reasons and eventually she would have to come clean with me. As Wilson left the library, I went down to the first floor, found myself a comfy couch, and opened the book. I flipped through it looking for anything about my wolf's spirit, other great wolves were named along with a history of how their wolfs came to be, and how the moon goddess mated and produced offspring. He suddenly felt that Elena truly belonged here, in a beautiful place like this, living a life of such peace. Lorenzo stayed in the town for three days. He went to the market and bought oranges from the elderly woman who sold fruit. She smiled and gave him two extra, just as she had done for Elena. He went to the seaside and sat on a rock, watching the sun until it set. The sun turned the sea to gold, and seagulls circled overhead. He went to the church and kneeled before the statue of Mother Mary for a long time. He didn't know what he was praying for—perhaps not forgiveness, but just a little peace of mind.

The deep, distant presence below them. The sealed thing. It was not raging. It was waiting. Curious. Lonely. Elara’s throat tightened unexpectedly. “It’s not evil,” she whispered. “No,” Phoenix agreed. “It is contained.” “Why?” Elara asked. Phoenix’s voice softened. “Because it could not choose.” Elara opened her eyes. “And now?” “Now it senses choice for the first time.” The weight of that settled heavily. Damien spoke quietly. “So what happens if it wakes?”

“Dremis is afraid he will lose you; he wants you to come willingly yes?” “Yeah, how did you know that?” Abey knew the question was dumb, but she wanted answers. “Your soul is very troubled Little Dove, tonight we dance. The Elders will help guide you to find your totem and your answers,” he said pushing her down on a log near the fire that barely had a flame.

EMBER’S POV The dove’s beak snaps open, and it lets out a painful, hawking shriek—a wet, bubbling rasp of pure agony that no bird should be able to make. I try to drop it, but I can’t let go. My fingers are paralysed, locked around it by the sheer force of the gold. The air scorches, thick with the smell of burnt ozone and roasting feathers. The dead grass around my knees bursts into smoking flames.
