Friday July 20th, 2018; 9pm (Cole’s POV) I wake suddenly with a gasp, nearly falling from my seat as the smooth black top road turns into the crunchy vibrations of a graveled roadway. I blink several times, clearing my eyes enough to see the sign, ‘Welcome to White Ridge, A Gated Community’. “Wait,” I suddenly gasp in a panic. “We’re supposed to be going to the Black Moon pack.” “Easy there, Cole. Everything is okay.” Jamie’s voice is calm but assertive as he tries to break through my increasing panic.

CHAPTER THREE Cooper’s Cove lay a mile to the east of Dorsal Finn’s harbour. As with other areas in the town, the large cave, accessible only at low tide, had bad folklore attached to it. The place was known locally as Coven Cove, and its association with witchcraft was no secret amongst the older generations. They took delight—especially around Halloween—in scaring kids with talk about the coven of witches who used to frequent the area, one of whom allegedly wrote The Book of Shadows, a grimoire of great power.

Cove leaned in, kissing Eli deeply, full of everything they had survived and everything still waiting for them. When he pulled back, his storm-gray eyes were fierce with love and determination. “Then let’s go hunt a ghost.” The convoy moved fast through the rainy night streets. Rain pounded against the armored SUV windows, turning the city lights into blurred streaks of gold and red. Fog rolled in thick from the river, wrapping the docks in a cold, ghostly haze. Eli sat in the back seat beside Cove, his hands trembling slightly as he set up the mobile hacking rig on a small fold-out table between them.

I cut him off mid-sentence. "How can you say you don't see that as a problem, Eric!? We are shifters! Humans are nosy and problematic. No way am I having one as a neighbor, even if we have our different houses. It would drive me crazy! I wouldn't be able to shift in peace! If you don't want me to commit murder in the future then better fix this problem!" He exhales then "This place is known as Darvin Cove. It is a small gated neighborhood within Sunny Beach town. It consists of just two villas that are built on an acre beachfront plot. Half an acre for each villa.

We have a large coastline on the southwest end, it’s stunning. White sandy beaches and clear water. I haven’t been in awhile but I’d love to take the kids in the summer. The tale is that there was a big human pirate ship called “The Black” that sank half a mile off shore,” she said, as she moved around.

Gregory too much might just backfire. Kendrick also sat down beside her and gazed out into the distance. They could faintly see the pearl farms at sea, as well as the coastal highway. He was wondering if he should take Anna on a little trip tomorrow—maybe to the pearl farm or a scenic drive along the coastline. The views were gorgeous. Just then, a black SUV appeared on the coastal road below. It looked like a Mercedes G65. In a sleepy little fishing village, a two-million- luxury SUV stood out quite a bit.

The old lighthouse had been dark for years. Perched on the jagged edge of Widow’s Point, the Black Hollow Lighthouse had been abandoned since the night Keeper Alden Rowe vanished without a trace. No one had taken the position after that. Some said he’d fallen. Others whispered the sea had claimed him for a debt long unpaid. Mara didn’t believe in sea-debts. But she knew what she saw. Three flashes. Evenly spaced. Deliberate. The pattern repeated. Her little brother, Toby, burst into her room. “Did you see it?”

The pace of everything seemed to dial down until there was basically nothing but grass and trees on each side of the road. “You know I trust you with my whole heart, but you’re scaring me right now.” Greg chuckled beside her, giving her hand another squeeze. “I won’t do anything to harm you, my love.” He looked at her briefly before turning his attention back to the road. “This is already part of the Blackbird’s property. It’s private property, so only a few know about it.” “I see,” she replied contemplatively. Of course, the Blackbirds would have parcels of land. So much of it that they had no idea what to make use of.

Caleb says with a polite smile, as he turns off the engine. Coastal Cove is nestled at the back of the resort, overlooking the ocean with a breathtaking view of the sunset, and the exterior is designed to resemble a beachy laid-back vibe with natural wood accents, nautical ropes, and colorful beach umbrellas. The entrance is marked by a large, wooden sign with the coastal cove logo, sound of waves crashing against the shore creates a soothing ambiance.

Blackthorn was a smaller territory west of the Raven Creek known for its wine. I didn't know much, just the limited information available to me. The meeting went on, and I sat quickly like a decorative piece waiting for when I was needed. The staff moved quietly in the background, refilling drinks and adjusting settings on the table, as if every little detail mattered. And yeah, it did. I glanced around once more, still amazed by how perfect the setup was. High above the world, with the city lights all around us, it felt like we were in our own little world. A place made for power and quiet deals.
