Shadows and First Blood

Shadows and First Blood

Chapter 12 — The Glamour in the Fog Fog had moods; tonight, it wanted an audience. It came rolling off the cliffs in slow sheets, thick as milk and twice as deliberate. By the time I stepped outside, the sanctuary lights were gone—just a dull gold smear behind vapor. “Lucian?” I called. The sound fell flat, swallowed. Something laughed. Not human. Not quite cruel, either—just interested. I moved forward on instinct, through the wet hush of grass. The fog glowed faintly green in places, like moonlight trapped in glass. I caught movement—someone tall, lean—familiar gait.

calculated. Noah walked slowly, the collar of his coat turned up, breath misting faintly in front of him. The sky above was colorless — not black, not gray, just blank, like it had been erased. Fog clung to the lower parts of the street, hugging lamp posts and curling under benches like it was hiding something. His boots echoed over the stones — not loudly, but just enough that the sound didn't feel like his alone. He paused at a narrow crossing, a lightless intersection between two alleys. Glanced behind him.

Mist

Mist

Saga followed us out of the classroom and I started running down the hall until I reached the parking lot. Gunnar and Saga kept up with me as I ran to my Jeep and got in. They both got in with me, knowing that I wasn’t just acting out. Something was going on. I sped out of the parking lot, my tires squealing and skipped the first red light I came to. “What did you see?” Saga asked me. The gods were watching out for me as I skidded around corners and sped over more red lights. I parked the Jeep haphazardly in the driveway and stumbled out of it. I started running the moment my feet touched the paved area and headed into the forest.

Make Believe: A New Luna

Make Believe: A New Luna

The fog has everything covered in damp, layered with the smell of decay and mold. And something about it seems to deaden the usual sounds and sharpen others. I can’t localize sounds the way I should be able to. I can’t hear Blaise running through the dead leaves of the forest floor, but I can hear the creaking of the tree branches in a breeze that I can’t feel. In fact, it’s almost like the fog is made to make it harder for me to find Blaise. Like this was done purposefully. That immediately makes me slow, almost stopping as I get my bearings in the trees.

The Ice Wolf

The Ice Wolf

The scents of ripe, tangy autumn fruit and bittersweet spices filled Nueva's nostrils, making her mouth water. "Terrible news about your loved ones." Perla continued, and Nueva nodded, blinking away the tears threatening to fall. Nueva cleared her throat and asked, "Can you please tell me about the fog?" Perla licked whipped cream from her fingers. "No one knows how the fog appeared, but the elders once told me that it was to keep Thiago in after he grew too powerful for this earth." "Why would the Alpha Rogue want me to come there?" Nueva asked, frustrated not knowing.

The Way of the Dragon

The Way of the Dragon

Within the black fog, loud noises could be heard. Following that, ten silhouettes could be seen cutting through and out of the fog. It was Tristan and his group. Everyone was heaving as they exited with terrified expressions. “Open!” a voice came, followed by the sight of Alan brandishing a great halberd. As he waved it about, a path was cut through the fog. Behind him, the newly recruited initiates followed closely by, each of them shivering as they moved. They quickly and safely exited the fog. “Did you find anyone?” Tristan asked, though he already knew the answer. Alan shook his head, “None. <

The Prince Who Was Raised in Hell

The Prince Who Was Raised in Hell

Jessica frowned. Obviously, the mask she wore was a magic weapon that could block the poison fog for her. However, the mask did not allow her to see through the fog. In just a moment, the purple fog seemed to be so thick that it couldn't melt. Although everyone present was close to each other, they couldn't see each other clearly. They could only vaguely see each other's outline. "The toxicity of the fog is not strong, but as time passes, it will affect our vision, hearing, and reaction speed." Xander Faris's voice came through the fog.

What happened to the original writer of this book? The new writer is a far cry from the first one in terms of style, creativity, dialogue and story telling. He has turned a once very arresting story into a very boring one. It is sad.

Mate to the Dragon Prince

Mate to the Dragon Prince

making me wonder if I should accept this coldness that was suddenly surrounding me. It hurt, something hurt as I felt the fog push me down, something that prevented me from reaching forward; reaching towards the man before.. the man who had appeared in my dreams. I pushed myself against the cold, allowing the fog's coldness to embrace me further, "We are forbidden.." My lips had spoken the words, but my voice sounded foreign in my ears, like someone else had spoken them for me. My mind was left in a dizzy haze after the fog began its effects. The deep black floorboards took my attention, as I star

They were getting closer to the fog blockage and now more alert. The rest of the selected riders rode in silence, save for the occasional murmurs and thumping of horse’s feet. “Do you see it yet?” Lyra asked, her voice breaking the quiet. Thane craned his neck, squinting up at the mess of white fog above him. It was everywhere, swirling around like some weird ghostly fence trying too hard to keep secrets. It shot up, tall as the castle walls, maybe even taller, packed in so thick it looked like someone had thrown a giant comforter over the whole world.

I Can't Be Mated to Him

I Can't Be Mated to Him

The misty fog has continued to roll in, its thick fingers moving mysteriously to intertwine around every building, every tree, every creature that dares to step out into it. It’s not a normal fog. The first time I went out to make my way to the barns and encountered it, I could feel it wrapping around me, the energy inside of it pulsating, moving. Breathing. I had to close my eyes for a moment to get my bearings. Not only could I see nothing through its milky whiteness, I lost my ability to think clearly. It seeps into a person and changes who they are on the inside. And it only has one purpose, one intention.
