Zoe, Stella, Sky, and Alex all stand up and huddle together at a little distance, whispering and snickering like mischievous kids plotting trouble. Selena nudges me playfully. “I’m getting excited now.” I look at her and chuckle. “Even I am. Your friends are fun. I’m actually enjoying their company.” She gives me a smile. “I’m glad.” We exchange a warm look, and before we know it, the group returns to us with faces full of anticipation and wicked grins. Alex is the first to speak. “Alright, lovebirds. We’ve got your task.” Selena raises an eyebrow. “Hit us.”

It just sounded like something of stroys that our parents told us. "You knew this would be the cost," the witch continued, her eyes never leaving mine. "And you still came. What does that tell us about you, I wonder?" I swallowed hard, forcing myself to meet her gaze. "It tells you that I will do anything for my friends," I said, my voice tinged with defiance. "And that I'm not afraid of what's to come." The witch seemed taken aback by my words but quickly regained her composure. "Very well, then. Bring us the Book of the Moon, and we'll help you locate your friend. You have until tomorrow night."

"Junior year of college, when that homewrecker confronted you in person, I fought her for you. I was written up by the school because of it. "And now?" Dylan gritted his teeth and stared straight into my eyes. "Just because I have stayed at your place for a few days, you are losing your temper at me like this. "Max Cairncross, after everything I have done for you, can you honestly say you are not ashamed?" Dylan was right. He had done a lot for me. Otherwise, we would never have become best friends for nearly twenty years. But friendship was mutual. I pushed his hand away and met his gaze, word by word.

I sighed "I have a story to tell you." "You’re always telling me the same story." He whispered a bit audible "Not this time I won’t, it’s very interesting, I’m sure you will love it," I said while grabbing the storybook kept on the table. "This looks interesting." I opened to the first page "Once upon a time, there lived three children, Kyle, Lucas, and Charles. They are best friends, they always spend time together until…." "It’s boring." "Okay, I will narrate another story." I grabbed the other storybook and began narrating it

I will be leaving this place tomorrow. Leah added. : "....." : Leah! Why are you leaving us too! : For real!?? : Leah! : Tell us! Her friends voice out suddenly. "Nice to meet you," Collen quickly took my hands and shook them. My hands fell limp to my side. "Is everything okay?" Hannah asked, her green eyes searching mine. "Yeah, just that um, I was about to go to bed when you came," I lied through my teeth. My heart was beating not just within my chest but I could hear it in head. This was the first time I had lied to my best friend in all our twelve years of being friends. "Oh, I was hoping you could stay up with us to watch a movie."

Instead, she pulled out her phone. “Gosh, you’re acting ridiculous right now. Why would you send me your book before it’s released? You promised not to give me any spoilers.” I laid back down, draping my arm over my face. A sinking feeling settled in my stomach. It was only a matter of minutes before I lost my best friend too. “I love you, Rhoda,” I said quietly, my voice barely more than a whisper. “I mean it.” “Are you dying on me?” she asked, half-joking, but her voice wavered. “Because this is starting to freak me out...” She trailed off.

I wish I could slip out of here but the annoying pixie by the door is blocking me in. "Why can't we just be friends again?" Izzy asks sadly and Briar lets out a heavy sigh. "We were never friends, Izzy. That wasn't what real friendship is." She says firmly and my heart soars when she looks over at me, warmth in her eyes. Pride fills my body and I naturally gravitate towards her. I stand behind her, soaking up her closeness and letting her know I'm here if she needs me. Izzy watches our interaction before she turns on her heel and leaves us alone.
