The Golden Compass Movie Novels & Stories

As for Harold, I had the movers clear out everything in his room—his expensive wardrobe, luxurious cosmetics items, and anything in between, gathering everything in a pile outside the villa. Then, I made sure Harold watched as I poured gasoline over his possessions and burnt it all to ash. Bound and unable to move, Harold couldn't save his prized possessions, and could only howl and bawl in anguish. My mother, seeing him crying himself hoarse, went up and hugged him, comforting him, "It's alright. I'll just buy everything again! Brand new ones!"

I swear I didn't take anything! I snatched my watch from his grasp and pointed to the bling. "Each one of these diamonds is worth 10 million bucks, Henry. You're in deep trouble." In the chaos of his panic, Henry blurted out something stupid in front of Rowena. "Ms. Smith, I'm begging you. Please help me. Jayden and Clara were an item for four years. They're still not over each other. "He's all wrong for you. If you choose me, I'll be loyal, I promise!"

The compass settled into true north with the absolute, final, complete warmth of a device that had found the last piece of a puzzle it had been solving since the moment of its creation. But in the hallway outside the Auditor's office, through the window that overlooked Manhattan's skyline where nine hundred and thirty-seven golden ships orbited in a living constellation, Jack saw something that made his blood run cold. A single ship, darker than the others, was descending through the fleet without authorization. Its hull was not gold. Not silver. Not reflected light. It was the color of the space between spaces. And it was heading straight for Sterling Tower. The compass burned. The Hollowsm

“This isn’t about me. It’s about the pack staying alive.” I didn’t argue. Too much was riding on that one secret. When the food was handed out, I helped pass around the dry bread. My hand froze when I saw Caspian staring at Elaria’s compass. The needle moved slowly… then suddenly spun like mad. “Caspian?” I whispered. He lifted the compass. “The needle’s going mental.” “That means something nasty’s nearby?” I asked. “Could be. Or more than one thing.” His jaw tightened. “You smell anything?”

Sanctioned means no one touches you—unless someone higher says they can. Caelric steps closer. “Where is the token.” The attacker’s eyes flick down, terrified. Soryn’s grip tightens, and the man whimpers. “Pocket—inside—” Caelric reaches in and pulls out something small. Metal. A coin-sized medallion. Even from across the room I can see the etching—too clean, too official. A crown shape. A vertical line through it like a blade. My blood turns cold. Caelric’s face doesn’t change, but his eyes harden into something I’ve only seen right before people disappear.

Cerridwen spat it out then got to her feet ready to go at him again, ‘Really Golden Wolf? Are you sure you want to risk the lives of those you love? I am going to rid you of your Pup so I can throw you into haze for me and trust me, Golden Wolf, I will keep you so hazed you will do anything for me until I fill your body with my Pup.’

Sebastian’s POV “It will always point towards the one closest to their heart.” It sounded like just another swindle. I held the compass in my hand, inspecting its intricate carved design. The compass is made of real gold. I can sense that the antique description about it is authentic. The claims of being enchanted, however, I was still contemplating. All I know is that it captured my attention. I remembered Veronica and her dreams of going out into the world. She has a traveler’s heart despite being confined in one place, one duty, all throughout her life. I think she would like this thing.

She turned back toward the old vendor, watching as he held up a gleaming golden comb. "What kind of comb is that? Just gold-plated?" Gwen asked, unenthusiastic yet mildly curious. "This is real gold. Comb your hair with this golden comb in front of a wealthy person’s vanity mirror, and you will become that wealthy person." The old man spoke with complete seriousness, his eyes locked onto hers.

From within, he removed something wrapped in faded white cloth. Carefully... He unfolded it. Inside rested an old compass. Not made of brass. Not iron. Crystal. Instead of pointing north... Its needle pointed toward glowing words floating in the air. TRUTH The stranger placed it in Adrian's hands. "This compass has only one purpose." "It never finds places." "It finds lies." Adrian watched the crystal needle spin wildly before stopping. It pointed... Toward the stranger himself. Adrian slowly raised his eyes. The stranger laughed quietly. "Good."

The ceiling had collapsed centuries ago, allowing moonlight to pour inside. At the center stood a colossal stone compass. Its needle pointed directly toward the cathedral. Mira looked at Alessio. “The Ferryman left you something.” She knelt beside the compass. Pressed her hand against one of the carved symbols. A hidden compartment opened. Inside rested… A small wooden toy wolf. Old. Worn. Its paint nearly gone. Alessio stared at it. His breathing stopped. He knew it. Not through the Archive. Through childhood. He picked it up carefully.
