Alternating pov: Dawn had barely touched the horizon when the pain woke me—sharp, rolling, electric. My whole body trembled, skin too tight, bones burning. I gasped and clutched the blankets, trying not to scream. The door flew open. “Sera.” Kade was already at my side, dropping to his knees. He must have been waiting. Watching. Ready. “It’s starting,” I breathed, voice shaking. “I know, baby. I’ve got you.” He swept me into his arms, holding me like I weighed nothing.

He stepped forward and shouted angrily, "Who do you think you are? How dare you yell at our captain?" "Captain? What captain?" Fiona was stunned. Max replied angrily, "Open your eyes and see clearly! This is the captain of the special forces, Skywolf!" Victor continued, "He's a recipient of the Medal of Honor, a national hero! How dare a woman like you yell at him?" "What?" Fiona was struck dumb, staring at me wide-eyed. Phillip was also stunned, a flicker of fear in his eyes. Fiona trembled as she said, "No... No way... Timothy is just an ordinary clerk..."

I had to buy some warmer coats and shoes. I jumped when the captain came over the speaker, “our descent into Devil's Lake was upon us”, he said. My heart rate was finally coming back to a normal rhythm by the time the plane started taxing, which was good since I no longer felt like my heart would beat out of my chest after waking up. The amused chuckles soon turned into laughter as both the high priestess and Deloris shook their heads at Ryan, indicating that neither of them had turned Mary into the talking donkey.

Amy I woke up with a light head. I willed myself not to think anything about Jace so that I can focus on my work. I realized that I had lagged behind on the book I was editing. I poured myself some coffee and sat in front of my laptop. I am surprised when I finish the book before one. I haven't eaten anything sensible since morning. I last ate a decent meal at Jace's house.
