Wish
“I guess. Maybe I’m just a little tired. It’s been a long day.”
She yawns. “That’s true. I don’t know what the nurse gave me to drink but I can’t even feel the blisters anymore. I’m going to sleep like a baby.”
I glance at her. It’s been two days now, and Beth’s confidence seems to have grown.
Maybe it’s because she’s no longer under the thumb of her brother?
“Hey,” I mutter, and when she looks at me, I ask, “If I decide to run away from this place, would you want to come with me?”
