Selene whispers. The ancient guardian bows before us. A murmur spreads through the battlefield. The enemy begins retreating. Marcus doesn't. He stands at the edge of the ruined courtyard, staring at the creature with disbelief. "No." The guardian lifts its head. Marcus backs away. "You were destroyed." The wolf bares its teeth. Marcus's face turns pale. "You cannot be here." I look at Selene. "Who is it?" "The First Guardian." Her voice is barely audible. "It was created to protect the Queen and the heir."

She replied, her eyes darting around the field perhaps to see if anyone was listening in on our conversation. I tossed my head back and let out a burst of laughter. I was not sure what it was exactly that made me laugh, I guess it was the fact she said that she was my guardian. I laughed until I felt tears in the corners of my eyes. “Oh yeah, you are my guardian right, just like Gamora in the guardians of the galaxy movie!” I exclaimed jokingly, laughing as I said so. “You must have heard of Ultima Luna, haven’t you?” She asked, ignoring my statement.

He needed to kill Drax to seal his rulership, because Drax was the only person who could come in between him and his Alpha title. "I don't know, but that photo they used on the poster is one of the photos I left back at the cave." She whispered back. I was so confused, and wondered how they got to know that she was with us, so I asked. "How did they know you're with us?" I asked it rhetorically, because I didn't really expect her to have an answer to that, because she has been with us the whole time, since the attack at the rogues’ cave.

Both had raven black hair, almost appearing as if they were brothers. “Just let me go, I promise I won’t tell anyone about anything.” I pleaded. “Sorry, but we can’t let you leave. You are the Keeper of the Dragon Stone and Cyran is your mate and guardian. “Excuse me?” I blanched at them, unable to believe what I was hearing.

“But you have to trust me.” Before the boy can respond, a sharp crack echoes through the arena and I turn to see one of the guards aiming a shock baton at us, the device crackling with energy. “Enough stalling!” the guard barks. “Fight, or you both die.” My mind is racing. The boy’s fear is palpable, but there was a glimmer of understanding in his eyes so I release him and slowly stand up straight, my gaze locking with the guard’s. “If you want a fight,” I growl, my voice carrying the weight of my anger, “then come down here and face me yourself.”
