Within the separate, Ethan saw a faint shine, a little, flashing light that appeared to beckon them forward. “That's it,” Miriam said, her voice resounding within the emptiness. “The heart of the abyss.” They moved towards the light, the quietness around them was harsh. As they drew closer, Ethan felt the weight of the obscurity squeezing down on him, the air became colder with each step. At last, they came to the heart of the abyss, a gigantic, throbbing sphere of darkness that drifted within the air before them. The light that had drawn them in was coming from inside it, a little, flashing fire that appeared to be battling against the obscurity.

Seraphina could feel the corruption pulsing beneath her skin, responding to the darkness around her. It's here, she thought, her heart racing. The Heart of Shadow. It's close. They rounded a corner, and she saw it. The Heart of Shadow was a massive crystal, black as obsidian, pulsing with dark energy. It hovered in the center of the chamber, suspended by chains of shadow that seemed to reach into the depths of the earth. "This is it," she breathed. "This is where it all comes from." Dane stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the crystal. "How do we destroy it?"
