The Heckling Hare Novels & Stories

No weird is that there was a gigantic queen of hearts playing card, holding an equally giant flamingo like a croquet mallet hitting a brightly colored hedgehog curled into a ball. I screamed as she bent over to look at me through her legs. “You don’t belong here. Time to get rid of you before you ruin everything.” She declared before striking the hedgehog with all her might, the poor flamingo’s skull smacking into this creature, sending it rolling through her legs at me.

The thought of that wiped the smile clean off my face. “Oh come on, cheer up. You’re gonna do great!” Melissa said, trying to bolster my spirits. She was always good at that and I genuinely appreciated the effort even though it wasn’t working this time. “I hope so Mel. I hope-“ the sound of the horn that announced the beginning of the Hunt stopped me mid sentence. I gasped in shock. “They aren’t supposed to blow it yet. They’re supposed to send people to make sure everyone is at their station” Mel winced. “I think they did hon”

My thoughts raced, searching for a way out of this, a way to break free, but I felt trapped, paralyzed by the weight of his presence. "When the hare reached the end of the race, she didn't realize she ended up in an ambush!" His tone turned even colder as he circled around the claw marks he had left before "Snap, snap! And..." He backed off and hissed, "She was gone!" He reached close to my ear again.

Bradley woke up, but I was invisible to him, he couldn’t hear me as I said his name or see me, even when I snapped my fingers in front of his face. All of a sudden, a bunch of animals came running towards him. Mostly reptiles, including one exceptionally large brown and tan colored rattlesnake, which slithered right through me as if I were a ghost and attacked Bradley, it enlarged in size, and it sunk its fangs into his neck and wrapped itself around his body.

A rustle nearby caught my attention, and I froze, barely breathing. A hare darted into view, its ears twitching as it nibbled on a patch of grass. It saw me. Flinched and looked over its shoulder before bounding away. I went in the direction it was running from, feeling exhilarated. I heard a sharp cry nearby. Then, Theodore was dragging a large stag behind him, grinning. I hummed. “Not bad,” I said. “Not bad?” He scoffed, gesturing at it. "This buck is easily… several meals worth of venison."

My hackles raise and I growl dangerously, sinking back on my hind legs in readiness to attack. Hilda, what’s wrong? Do you see something? Arlo asks worriedly. You don’t hear him? I ask, my head swinging from side to side, attempting to track down the enemy. Who? What are you hearing? Maelor’s in my head and I want to scratch him right back out.

Nina told us a story as we were eating per Hailey's request and she told a story about The Hare And The Tortoise. Mr. Tortoise dared Mr. Hare to go on a race with him and Hare agreed cause he felt it was an insult, but Mr. Tortoise had other plans, he placed four of his children who looked like him at the four rivers they were supposed to cross, so Mr. Hare ran till he died. And now Hailey is telling me that the tortoise's smartness made him won the race while I called it cheating. "It is not a crime to be smart uncle, and I loved what tortoise did."She said sticking out her tongue in a mocking way.

Caleb thrust a bloodstained dagger hard into the table and said with a stern voice, "Aren't you afraid that I'm more aggressive than the hares?" Jamie dared not say another word and quickly opened the cage to bite the hare. With the help of two people, things went much smoother. Pretty soon, all thirty hares were applied with different herbs. I walked up to the first cage to observe the reaction of the hare. The first hare stretched its four legs straight. I touched its heart, and it was no longer beating. It was dead. All the hares were lying quietly in their cages after being bitten by a poison wolf. Only the occasional twitching ears and feet let me know which hares were still alive.

There was no further explanation and that made me want to rip his head off for being so annoying. "Well, WHAT is it?" "Hellen." "WHAT!?" Ken and I exclaimed in unison. "What do you mean?" I was yelling. There was clearly no reason for me to but I couldn't help it. Hector was walking towards the barrier of fierce looking eagles. "She's of great use. I believe so." He stopped not too far from them and watched as the angry birds flapped their wings and squeezed between each other to keep the barrier stable. They carelessly lost a few feathers trying to obey Mabel.

"And you are the latest attraction." "I'm sure you are familiar with the Rodeos your kind have created to use and abuse helpless little no-furs as your sex objects. It's sort of like that." The cruel Hare in the uniform patted Guru's head and then pulled hard on his fur. "Shall we start the bidding?" "Gentlehares." The Hare started to address an audience Guru couldn't see. "This is a treat. What we have here is not only a rare Northern Forest Blonde-fur but the world-renowned Guru."
