Chapter 28 Cain After Eric abruptly ended the call, anxiety hits me and I knew I needed to find Hadley, my wolf paced my mind and would not have let up until we had seen her ourselves. When I saw Hadley on that bathroom floor covered in blood my heart nearly stopped, I thought that after all this waiting, I had found her only to lose her again. Seeing how pale she looked I swept her up and took her to my home, I did not want to return to the packhouse and possibly have to share her with Zylith, or anyone else for that matter.

A day after Hades took a brief getaway from his office to meet up with his two brothers, he and Thanatos boarded their flight back to North Carolina to prepare for dinner with Rheis. As one might have anticipated, Hades took the necessary precautions to ensure that the dinner would go off without a hitch. During the time that preparations were being made for the dinner that only took place once in a blue moon, the dining room of the mansion had been given a fresh coat of glitz and glamour.

House of Fire, House of Water, House of Earth, and House of Air. Under these four are the Sub-elements and they are divided into thirteen houses. There’s the House of Ice, Snow, Frost, Hail, and Sleet for the Water Sub-elemental's, House of Iron, Vines, and Metal for the Earth Sub-elemental’s. House of Smoke, and Heat for the Fire Sub-elemental’s, House of Whirlwind, Hurricane, and Tornado for Air Sub-elemental’s.”

The remaining part of our trek to the subterranean mutant-vampire kingdom was long, tedious, and grueling. By the time we settled into the meeting room of Sybil’s grand house, my mood was anything but good. Making such a difficult trip as a pregnant vampire was enough to justify my attitude without compounding it with constant concerns of encountering Bartholomew’s men or mutants; as well as thoughts of where I fit in the love triangle of Shona, Geo, and Luthias milling through my mind.

Hades’ POV IT was past midnight and I still couldn’t sleep. Now, as I stared out the window into the dark bushes that surrounded my pack house, I couldn’t help but think about my prisoner, my new slave, Hailey. It has been a routine for me since the past few days as she was all I could think of, all my brothers could think of, and while I sought for ways to help them stop obsessing over her, I realized to my own disappointment that I had also begun to obsess over her.
