The Hunting Party Summary Novels & Stories

"And right now, the pack needs meat." --- The hunting party left at midday. Lyra led them through the forest, her senses sharp, her body low. The other hunters followed her lead, their movements silent, their focus absolute. They had been training for this. They were ready. The tracks were fresh—a herd of deer, moving east toward the mountains. Lyra signaled to the others, and they spread out, surrounding the herd, cutting off their escape. The hunt was swift and clean. The deer fell one by one, their bodies collapsing into the snow, their blood staining the white ground. The hunters worked quickly, field dressing the kills, loading the meat onto sledges made of branches and hide.

Anastasia shook my shoulders lightly. I quickly forced a smile rubbing my palms nervously . “Huh? Oh — yes. Yes, I am. I’m just… fascinated. It’s my first time hearing about it, you know.” “It’s going to be such a fun night!” she squealed. “You should be excited. It’ll help your wolf. And after that… there’s the Hunt. That’s the best part.” “The Hunt?Tell me more about this hunt …” I repeated carefully. “After the midnight horn, we’re scattered in groups to find the horns. It’s the ultimate search. We can be out there until dawn. It’s super competitive. And the winning team?” She practically bounced in her seat. “They get to attend the Alpha’s birthday banquet!”

"Can you?" "How hard can it be? Point and pull the trigger." Something like amusement flickered in his eyes. "We'll see." The teams dispersed across the vast Lombardo estate, each taking a different hunting ground. Ours led into dense woods that soon had me panting to keep up. Two hours in, we'd only managed to bag a few small game animals worth minimal points. "There," Vin whispered, pointing to movement in the underbrush about fifty yards ahead. It was a Deer.

"We have trained hard, and now it's time to put our skills to the test. The Hunt begins tonight." The crowd erupted into cheers, their howls and barks filling the air. I could feel the excitement building in my chest, the thrill of the hunt calling out to something deep within me. The Hunt was a tradition among the pack, a chance for them to test our skills and prove our worth. It was a grueling night-long challenge, with the pack searching for a particular prey deep in the woods. As the pack dispersed to prepare for the Hunt, I found myself drawn to the edge of the village. I could hear the sounds of the forest calling out to me, the rustling of leaves, and the muffled sounds of the pack me

The party after the initiation ceremony was still going on in the dining room of the pack house. Everyone was assembled there and I couldn’t catch a breath or take a step without someone congratulating me or telling me how amazing the hunt was. Pack hunts were rare because we didn’t want to disturb the ecosystem around us, but they were sometimes a celebration, like today. I was lucky to spot a herd of deer, and we managed to hunt down a couple of them, enough for everyone in the pack to take a celebratory bite of the hunt. Now, I was tired, both from the day and everyone frolicking around me.

I can’t let this opportunity slip away. I move with purpose, tracking the hunter through the fray. My new abilities, honed through training and experience, guide me as I close in on my target. With a final, decisive move, I confront the hunter, determined to bring them to justice. As the battle draws to a close, the pack emerges victorious. The stronghold is in ruins, and the hunters’ operations have been severely disrupted. The hard-fought victory is a testament to our resilience and unity. In the aftermath of the battle, the camp is filled with a mixture of relief and exhaustion. The pack members gather, tending to wounds and regrouping. Despite the victory, the cost of the battle is evide

I let go of her hand and moved to the edge of the clearing. The hunting party emerged one wolf at a time, dragging their kills behind them. The crowd erupted. Eric and Arnold inspected the game while I called out the count. "By size of the largest kill, Gamma Nikolia's team wins." Athena rounded on him immediately. "I let you win. Don't get used to it." Niko just looked smug. I almost laughed. Then the alarms went off. Every good feeling in the clearing died in an instant. Athena and Niko were already shifting, warriors sprinting after them into the trees.

Cain and Maddie were nearby, their faces alight with a cruel, eager kind of excitement. Caius and Sylvia led the party. “The great stag of these woods has been seen,” Caius announced, his voice carrying. “A noble prize for a noble guest.” We pushed deeper. The trees closed in. The perfect place for an “accident.” Then, the horns sounded. The stag had been flushed. Chaos erupted the thunder of hooves, the shouting of hunters, the baying of hounds. It was the chaos they’d wanted. “Stay with me!” Thorne barked over the noise, his horse pressing closer to mine.

Ronan’s voice cut through the quiet, low and gravelly, and it was the first time I’d heard him talk since we started the hunt. I bit the inside of my cheek because he wasn’t wrong. There was nothing. Just the faint scent of fox and deer buried under layers of snow, and even the occasional wild wolf wasn’t enough to set me on edge. If the rogues had passed through here, we would’ve known. Their foul stench should’ve been clinging to every frozen surface, lingering in the air like a warning. But there was nothing. “Two pack members were hit. They saw them,” Marcus said, his words clipped as he pushed forward, his shoulders tense and I could tell even he was feeling frustrated already. The snow

Ramsy boasted. Delta Ramsy mustered little heed to Higgins' pitiful state as the spat to the soon to-be corpse in his wake. Hunters were members of the resistance, who were mostly humans that had their only goal to be liberating their people and domineering the greater mass of carnivorous beast that desired to usurp any attempts they made to establish a system like theirs or breed enough to try. Higgins' life was dangling on a thin thread, his hands laid across the two ends of the baracade by chains anchored to his wrists and a weakened resolve from that death that just insisted on taking its time before truly drawing the life out of him.
